Packers Go Fullback. Defensive Line and Tight End In the Sixth Round

The Packers rounded out their 2015 draft class with prospects who could help on special teams right away.

A move tight end, a sleeper pick of a pass rusher and John Kuhn's likely replacement.

That's how the Packers wrapped up their 2015 draft class after the selected Oklahoma's Aaron Ripkowski, Louisiana-Lafayette's Christian Ringo, and UAB's Kennard Backman.

Ripkowski is a classic brusier of a back who will undoubtedly help on special teams right away.

Ringo is a favorite of Pro Football Focus.

From PFF:

When he won, he did so by using his quickness, exploding off the ball especially when lining up at nose tackle. In the pros, however, he’ll likely have to come from the 3-tech spot since he weighs in around 275 pounds.

Ringo will not be a high draft pick and might even go undrafted, but he could quickly become a third-down, 300-snap specialist. What he could provide in those snaps is an effective interior speed rusher who can cause trouble on passing downs.

Backman will have plenty of competition at the tight end position, but it is undoubtedly the weakest position group on the offense. He has a chance to stick.

Here's our CHTV Livestream wrap up of the 6th round with Brian Carriveau:

Wonder if Rip will bring the face paint to the NFL. Dude looks like one tough SOB. I'm a fan already.

Thanks to all the authors and everyone associated with Cheeseheadtv for what was obviously a lot of work covering the draft, especially a TT draft!

Ripkowski looks like he will be a H-Back this year. He looks like he could be a FB and play some TE roles. I love the pick. Also he is a hammer.

Ringo, looks good. He does have some similar traits to Daniels.

Backman, I really like his athleticism. He has good speed for the TE position. He could end up being the player we were hoping Bostick was going to be.

Every time I hear/read "H-Back" I get upset with DJ Williams all over again. Man, he should have been perfect in that role.

Yeah, Williams really disappointed me. I thought he was going to be good.

After Williams, I thought Bostick was going to be the guy I thought Williams was going to be. That didn't happen, so hopefully Backman will be the guy I thought Bostick and/or Williams could have been.

I don't want to put any high expectations on him, but I will just say hopefully he can become that player.
