Packers DL Ryan Pickett Drops Out of Practice

It's yet to be reported what caused Pickett to drop out of Thursday's Green Bay Packers practice.

Certainly, it's never good to miss any preparation time, but as the most senior member of the Packers roster at 34 years old, missing a little bit of practice may not hurt Pickett as much as other players on the roster.

The Packers will be looking to Pickett to help shut down Ray Rice and the Baltimore Ravens run game this upcoming Sunday.

UPDATE: Mike McCarthy said Pickett bruised his hand during Thursday's practice but later returned to action.

I'll go out on a limb and guess that it is a hammy.

In other words, another hammy whammy. This team is soft. They have more injuries in walk through than the league.

Guy is ancient for an interior lineman. He shouldn't have to do more than a handful of reps anyway..

Why? Picketts playing as well as he has for the past 4+ years. His contract is expiring, but he loves GB and his family is really settled from what I've read. Pickett will want to stay and given his age he's not going to command a large salary. I don't see any reason not to re-sign him for 2 yrs/6M or so. Cut his salary in 1/2 and keep him around for another year or 2.

A lot of DT/NT play really well into their mid to late 30s. Pat Williams most recently played till 38 yrs old. Pickett should have 2 more good years left in him.

Agreed. If he's reasonable about his contract, you keep him around.

The depth on this injured Packers squad is a hell of a lot better than the depth I'm watching right now on this injured Bears squad. Their front is terrible, and Shea McClellin isn't even mediocre for the fans calling TT to draft him two years ago.
