Packers Daily Links: Tramon Williams Rehabs Nerve-Damaged Shoulder

The seriousness of Tramon Williams' shoulder injury is detailed in a recently published article. That and more in today's Daily Links...

It appears the shoulder injury suffered by cornerback Tramon Williams last season was more serious than fans realized. "His entire career, the 29-year-old Williams never missed a game, never missed a practice," writes Tyler Dunne of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "So after a nasty collision with teammate Nick Collins in Green Bay's season opener a year ago, he played on. His shoulder was torn, strained, bruised - and worst of all - Williams suffered nerve damage. That nerve damage zapped Williams' aggressiveness and his play suffered. Off a career season and a four-year, $33 million contract extension, Williams struggled on Green Bay's last-ranked defense." The nerve damage caused Williams to lose significant strength. He could jam receivers at the line, and he admits to he shied away from tackling. As the article reads, Williams is regaining strength as it takes time for the nerve to regenerate.

"Cleatgate" is over. In case you missed it, a woman was captured camera wrestling a shoe with cleats thrown from wide receiver Donald Driver at his charity softball game this past weekend out of the hands of a young boy. The woman apologized. Driver showered the boy with gifts, and their meeting will air on ABC's Good Morning America. "The visit was a surprise to Stephen, who thought he was heading back to Fox Cities Stadium to get some Packers gear from the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers," writes Tyler Dunne. "Instead, Driver, a television camera and a ton of autographed memorabilita were waiting for him."

More on Donald Driver and the entire incident comes from WBAY-TV in Green Bay and the Appleton Post-Crescent.

A Green Bay Packers 2010 Super Bowl ring was seized in a federal drug bust in the Chicago area. "The arrest of several members of a drug trafficking organization with ties to Mexico has resulted in the seizure of heroin, weapons and jewelry -- including a 2010 Green Bay Packers Super Bowl ring that was reported stolen from a team executive," reports Annie Sweeney of the Chicago Tribune. Nothing more is reported. I would assume the ring will be returned to the executive that reported it stolen. Bizarre story.

An update regarding the suspension and status of Packers defensive lineman Tony Hargrove was given on Monday, but it's a story that will continue to evolve. "An arbitrator temporarily has taken over jurisdiction of Packers defensive lineman Anthony Hargrove’s discipline in the New Orleans Saints bounty scandal but left open NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to gain it back if he can 'specify the nature' of Hargrove’s alleged participation in the program," writes Pete Dougherty of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. Expect more news when Goodell attempts or declines to "specify the nature" of Hargrove's participation.

Linebacker A.J. Hawk is featured in an article by Zach Heilprin of ESPNMilwaukee.com. “I think our mood is definitely still hot,” Hawk is quoted as saying. “We don’t feel down about it but we definitely know we let something slip away. We had something special going and I think obviously losing that regular season game was something we didn’t plan on happening and it did. Who knows if that had an affect on us in the playoffs? I think each game is its own entity but losing the playoff game especially how we did, at home in front of all these awesome people, that’s terrible. We feel terrible about that. That’s a loss you never will forget about…ever.”

Damn, here's hoping that shoulder gets right. You could tell something was off with Tramon last year. I absolutely love the guy... Wanna see him at his best... We need him at his best!

Yeah, you could definitely tell that he couldn't play press coverage very well, which was always his strenght.

One more reason I believe the defense will come back to form in 2012.

What a stud for palying through that. 100% this year should make a difference. Let's hope rehab puts it right.
