Packers Daily Links: Team Surveys Season-Ticket Holders

Season-ticket holders are being surveyed about seating concepts to be built in the south end zone. That and more in today's Daily Links

According to the team's official website, the Packers sent out an online survey to more than 30,000 season ticket holders to get feedback on some concepts being considered in the south end zone of Lambeau Field. "The survey gauges the fans’ interest in the ideas and how much they’d be willing to pay for different types of seating and amenity packages," writes Mike Spofford of Packers.com. Among the plans being considered are bleacher seating, stadium seating and standing-room only areas. Some images are included that appear as if Boston's seating on top of the Green Monster at Fenway Park is an inspiration.

A little research done into how the Packers conduct their pre-draft visits with college players by ProFootballTalk.com. "The Texans, Bears, Jaguars, and Packers concern themselves almost strictly with late-round, undrafted types when scheduling visits," writes Evan Silva. "For example, the player drafted earliest with whom we know Green Bay formally visited was Markell Carter, the 194th overall pick. The Raiders and Colts, for the most part, also fall into this category." The one player they drafted after a visit was North Carolina tight end Ryan Taylor.

Packers fans should be delighted to hear about the dedication of newly drafted wide receiver Randall Cobb. "The day I got drafted, I went and worked out that night," Cobb told the Associated Press. "I (live) off that stuff, and I'm going to use that as motivation like I always have." Cobb indicated that he will maintain his conditioning and workout frequently until the NFL's lockout ends.

With Randall Cobb being from Kentucky, he'll be attending the Kentucky Derby this weekend and will try to meet with Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers for the first time. "It means trying to touch base with Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, whom Cobb hopes to meet with this weekend in Louisville," writes Brett Dawson of the local Courier-Journal. "Both will be in town for the Kentucky Derby." The article goes on to mention how Cobb doesn't have a playbook and won't until the lockout is over.

Jim Delany, the commissioner of college's Big Ten, created a minor stir when he compared the brand and image of the University of Nebraska to the Green Bay Packers. "The Packers are an intensely local team -- tiny market, community owned -- that generates national appeal in part because of its unique setup (winning also has something to do with it)," writes Adam Rittenberg, the Big Ten blogger at ESPN.com. "While it pains me to say it as a Bears fan, Green Bay is a destination sports fans want to visit and should visit. Most NFL stadiums lack character, but Lambeau Field is special."

Former Packers safety Matt Bowen breaks down some Xs & Os by looking at the Packers offense against the Giants defense from 2010. "In 2-Man, think of a Cover 2—or Tampa 2—shell," writes Bowen. "Two deep safeties with five underneath defenders in the Nickel (or Dime) sub-package playing inside trail-man. To beat it, target the middle of the field and split the safeties, just as Aaron Rodgers does in Green Bay’s “Middle Read” route scheme for a TD." Video is included.

Former Packers wide receiver Antonio Freeman is doing some charity work in his native Baltimore. "Freeman's charitable foundation, B'MoreFree Programs, will work with city's Housing Office to distribute nutritional breakfasts and lunches five days a week during the summer months when schools are closed to kids under 18," according to the Sporting News. In yesterday's Daily Links we noted how Freeman was making a charitable appearance in Janesville, Wis. It's good to see the former Packer giving back to the community so heavily.

Re: south end zone, they should ask the folks on the season ticket waiting list. If I had season tickets, I'd suggest standing room area so my ticket resale value is not affected.

My godmother filled out the survey, and she said it was a little confusing because there were so many different seating configurations and options. Of course, she is borderline-elderly ;)

Evidently (to you) .... borderline-elderly = confusion ..... Be careful the myths you perpetuate ..... You only have two choices in life ..

Die young or become a 'borderline-elderly' ...... The choice is easy for most.
