Packers Daily Links: Rodgers Ranks No. 1 on NFL Network Top 100 List

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers came in No. 1 on the NFL Network's list of the top 100 players in the league in an episode aired on Wednesday evening. "It's almost hard to believe Rodgers only ranked No. 11 a year ago, after winning the Super Bowl," writes Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com. "Even though the Green Bay Packers didn't go as far in the playoffs this time around, Rodgers' rise in the rankings was well deserved. He was a much-improved player in 2011, playing quarterback at a level we have rarely seen." Video unveiling Rodgers as the top player can be found in the NFL.com post with opponents weighing in on why Rodgers is No. 1.

Noting Aaron Rodgers' No. 1 ranking are PackersNews.com, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, JSOnline, ESPNMilwaukee.com, Packer Report, Fox Sports Wisconsin and AllGreenBayPackers.com.

Former Packers wide receiver Antonio Freeman talked about his experience as a panelist and group leader at the NFL's Rookie Symposium with Jason Wilde of ESPNMilwaukee.com. “I personally don’t like to use the word ‘don’t.’ I don’t like to tell a player what not to do,” Freeman is quoted as saying. “I like to tell him some of the things that I did that made me successful, some of the characteristics that I displayed that helped make me successful, and hope that they can incorporate that into their game-plan. The last thing you want to do with these young, impressionable kids is tell them, ‘Hey, don’t give your family tickets. Hey, don’t pay your family’s airfare.’ These are grown men. They’re going to take their bumps and bruises and they’re going to learn how to be a professional. You can’t just hand the playbook over and expect it to be a smooth transition." Freeman's comments came as part of an interview on the Green & Gold Today Packers-themed sports radio talk show, which can also be heard as a podcast.

More on Antonio Freeman comes from the Green Bay Press-Gazette and ESPNMilwaukee.com.

The new scoreboards at Lambeau Field were viewed in front of an audience for the first time on Wednesday. "Members of the Green Bay/Brown County Professional Stadium District and area journalists also toured the south endzone expansion, where where nearly 7,000 new seats are being installed," writes Paul Srubas of the Press-Gazette. "The tour group was treated to a brief glimpse of highlight film footage on the 48-by-108-foot scoreboard screen on the opposite end of the field." A preview of the new entrance gates and the North endzone viewing deck was included as part of the tour as well.

More on Lambeau Field construction comes from Fox 11 in Green Bay.

Comments made by quarterback Aaron Rodgers about wide receiver Diondre Borel are shared in an article by Paul Imig at Fox Sports Wisconsin. "I think Diondre has made as big a jump as anybody from Year 1 to 2," Rodgers is quoted as saying. "He really made the most of his reps on the scout team last year. He's a great teammate, a hard worker and he really understands the game." Borel reacted to the praise saying it feels good to hear things like that, but also acknowledged he has to prove himself in practice and games too.

Former Packers offensive lineman Mark Tauscher was interviewed at the Packers official website about the new gig he'll be undertaking this upcoming season. "On a weekend yet to be determined during the 2012 regular season, Tauscher will be working on-air for one of the league’s broadcast partners in the United Kingdom, previewing and analyzing games, beginning with the NFL Network’s Thursday night broadcast and concluding with the full slate of games on Sunday," writes Mike Spofford of Packers.com.

In an multi-part interview aired on the NFL Network, former Packers quarterback Brett Favre commented on the power of commissioner Roger Goodell saying "it really doesn't matter to me."

Packer Report provides a training camp preview of the quarterback position and continues their roster countdown.

New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul is compared to former Packer Reggie White by teammate Chris Canty.

Acme Packing Company has posts on M.D. Jennings, Terrell Manning and draft value.

PackerPedia advocates cheering against Russell Wilson because of the impact it has on the Packers.

Weighing in on the A.J. Hawk/D.J. Smith debate is Matthew Stein at AllGreenBayPackers.com.

So was that suppose to be climatic/dramatic, the whole #12 being #1 thing? I mean, we all knew what time it was, no way the players could've messed that up. IDK about putting Brady at #4 though, especially with Bevis ahead of him.

AJ Hawk has mastered the two hand touch tackling. Unfortunately, that doesn't work in pads.

Maybe it's progress from mini-camp. Last year the guy would have dragged Hawk into the pond with him for +2 yards.

Nicely done.

No, him getting dragged like a little girl is all a media and fan creation. Just ask Jamie!

Dude, I still have a framed pic of him on mine, don't feel bad. I still have burt up there too. He was wearing green and gold in that pic, so it's pre- darkside burt... That's how I justify it.

calipackfan's picture

I guess I'll leave it up there until Hawk leaves the Packers. I want to get the Hornung Fat Head I can't get a large one because it doesn't fit on my room anymore.

Don't have fatheads, just lots of pics on the wall... Maybe I should get a fathead or five???
