Packers Daily Links: Neal to Spend Suspension in Tampa

Defensive lineman Mike Neal's suspension begins on Monday. That and more in today's Daily Links...

Defensive lineman Mike Neal will spend his time during his suspension in Tampa, according to Rob Demovsky of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. Neal's suspension begins on Monday, and he cannot be around the team for the first four games of the regular season. "If you look at the next four weeks, that’s like having another offseason,” Neal told the Press-Gazette. “That’s basically the time we have from OTAs to training camp. I’m looking at it like that and just being smart and making sure I get in good workouts and not over do it.” Thursday's preseason game will be the last time Neal sees any action for a while, but there's a good chance the Packers will welcome him back when his suspension is over.

Quarterback Graham Harrell enters Thursday's preseason finale with his job on the line. "Harrell enters the finale having completed just 32 of 63 passes for 261 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions for a passer rating of 53.7," according to an article by the Associated Press. "The offensive line has been shaky in protecting him (five sacks) and the young wide receivers haven't helped, either. Last week, Harrell completed just 5 of 12 passes for 26 yards (49.3 rating) in the Packers' 27-13 victory at Cincinnati." This evening is Harrell's final opportunity to make an impression. If he plays poorly, there's a chance that the Packers could go about acquiring a veteran backup to Aaron Rodgers, even though I don't think that's likely to happen.

More on Graham Harrell appears at Packer Plus and ESPNMilwaukee.com.

For all the gamers out there, the Packers are on top of the video game world. "With Tuesday’s release of Madden 13 – the highly-successful football wing of EA Sports – the Packers and Patriots were revealed as the cream of the crop entering the upcoming NFL season with each clocking in with 91 overall ratings," writes Wes Hodkiewicz of the Press-Gazette. Aaron Rodgers had the single highest player rating with a 99, followed by guard Josh Sitton with a 95.

Harrell's job is "on the line" even though the team backs him 100%, and even though Carriveau himself doesn't think any changes will be made?

Umm, ok. If I want to read commentary from people analyzing stuff they make up, I can always turn on ESPN.
