In an appearance on a local Packers-themed sports talk radio show on the ESPN Radio affiliate in Milwaukee, Green Bay head coach Mike McCarthy responded to comments made by Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz critiquing McCarthy's choice to hold a team-building exercise back during minicamp in June. The Packers went clay-pigeon shooting, foregoing a day of practice. Schwartz said the Lions couldn't afford to "waste" such a practice. "It was really a neat day," McCarthy is quoted as saying in a blog post by Jason Wilde at ESPNMilwaukee.com. "We’ve tried some differnet things, and by far it was our best group dynamic/team building event that we had. I actually got a chuckle out of hearing someone else worried about us taking our team skeet shooting."

Mike McCarthy touched on several subjects during his interview on Green & Gold Today, including the leadership of Aaron Rodgers, the running backs, the depth at wide receiver and backup quarterback Graham Harrell.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers commented on the recent mega-money contract signed by New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and his own deal as well during an interview with Ian Rapaport of NFL.com. "That stuff takes care of itself," Rodgers is quoted as saying. "I still have a few years left on my deal, and we'll talk about that when we get there." Rodgers obviously wanted to deflect attention away from a discussion of himself and the attention it could generate. But until Rodgers ends up actually signing a new contract, which figures to approach that of Brees, it will be a topic of debate among fans and the media.

Aaron Rodgers, while attending the American Century Championship golf tournament, talked more to the NFL Network on Thursday, and also commented on the Packers' running game. "The run has to be good enough to keep them honest, but we're going to have to throw the football to win games. We're going to have to run it probably a little bit more than we did last year," Rodgers added. "It starts with the passing game with us, and with most teams as well." Former Packers running back Ahman Green talked about his curious appearance in an online video featuring baseball player Yoenis Cespedes of the Oakland Athletics in an article by Paul Imig of Fox Sports Wisconsin. The video has gained notoriety for being bizzare, as it was filmed before Cespedes was signed by a Major League team as a way of showing off his athletic ability. "It was through a friend of a friend," Green explained of his appearance in the video. "I knew somebody working with him. That person invited me down to the Dominican Republic to help train (Cespedes) for a month over the summer of last year (2011)." It's another oddball adventure for Green who, since his playing days, has seemingly become a jack of all trades and master of none. He's had stints in teaching, broadcasting, acting and ownership of an indoor football team.
