Packers Daily Links: Jones Thinks Packers Can Have Three 1,000-Yard Receivers

Wide receiver James Jones recently shared his opinion on the NFL Network. That and more in today's Daily Links...

Appearing on the NFL Network on Monday, Green Bay Packers wide receiver James Jones talked about the potential departure of wide receiver Greg Jennings and the makeup of the team's remaining wide receivers. "I can see me, Jordy (Nelson) and Randall (Cobb) getting about 80 catches a piece," Jones is quoted as saying by Dan Hanzus of NFL.com. "I can see us all having over 1,000 yards." Jones also said he thought Cobb had the best chance to get 100 catches as the team's slot receiver. Bold statements? Perhaps, but the Packers have already come close to having three 1,000 receivers in their pass-happy offense under Mike McCarthy.

James Jones also had a conversation and Xs and Os session with former Packers safety Darren Sharper at the NFL Network.

The Green Bay Packers raised ticket prices for a fourth consecutive year on Monday. Packers president Mark Murphy cited a desire for the Packers to be in the middle of the pack in terms of the rest of the NFL, and Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel gives a recent historical perspective. "Murphy released similar statements for price increases from $8 to $11 per ticket in '10, $2 to $4 per ticket in '11 and $3 to $5 per ticket in '12," writes Silverstein. "In each case he did not identify where the Packers ranked in ticket price at that time." Fans will complain about rising ticket prices, and then observers will point a season-ticket waiting list that is in the neighborhood of 100,000 strong just waiting for their own chance. But I think what's happening is that the days of being a true season ticket holder and attending every single game is starting to become extinct. On one hand, there's nothing wrong with giving your tickets to a fellow fan, but how many are selling to fans of the visiting team for a high price in order to pay for their season tickets?

More on rising ticket prices comes from ESPNMilwaukee.com, Packer Report, Fox Sports Wisconsin, Wisconsin State Journal, JSOnline, ProFootballTalk.com, Associated Press and Lombardi Ave.

Over at Acme Packing Company, they examine the possibility of the Packers going after defensive lineman Sammie Lee Hill in free agency. "If the Packers acquire Hill he would definitely bring size to the line at 6’4" 329 lbs," writes Devin Shanley. "Hill has shown an ability to push the pocket and get some interior pass rush that all teams crave, logging 4 sacks for his career so far. PFF has given him generally positive grades in pass rushing the last few years and this year gave him an overall grade of +5.6." The question, of course, is what kind of money will Hill command? The Packers could get involved with a mid- to low-tier free agent, but can't afford to be paying big-time bucks.

An interview with new Packers Hall of Famer Chris Jacke appears at Fox Sports Wisconsin. The daily checkup series also continues with linebacker Brad Jones.

Positional analysis comes from ESPNMilwaukee.com with the specialists and at the Packers official website in the secondary.

Wide receivers get their report grades from AllGreenBayPackers.com: Randall Cobb, James Jones and Jarrett Boykin.

A column is written by Mike Vandermause of the Green Bay Press-Gazette saying the Packers have learned from keeping Donald Driver for one season too long.

Lombardi Ave. has blog posts on the Packers' restricted free agents and spoiled fans.

One of the children Aaron Rodgers visited on behalf of the MACC Fund is interviewed by WTMJ4 in Milwaukee.

Reading into this too far on my part, but there is no mention of Finley getting 1000 yards.

He doesn't need to. The threat is enough pull safety's off our WR's. He came around at the end in 2012; he'll be good in 2013.

"On one hand, there’s nothing wrong with giving your tickets to a fellow fan, but how many are selling to fans of the visiting team for a high price in order to pay for their season tickets?"

But think of how much $$$ the average first-time visitor to Lambeau spends? I'd put the over/under at $300. That's money going directly to GBP, Inc., no sharing.

I spent a lot more than that my first time at Lambeau.

Point is that these days people more interested in a way to make more money are putting opposing fans in the seats, I think.

I bought my tickets from a 3rd party on Ebay and way overpaid. The original ticket holder would have no idea were a Packer fan buying his/her ticket. I think a lot of the tickets are sold that way.

No way Finley's happy if all the balls are going to the 3 WR's. This will never happen in Green bay. Rodgers spreads it around to keep everybody happy. I like JJ, but he's playing for his next contract, just like Jennings tried to in 2012.

I see Finley getting 70 receptions for 600-700 yards. The WR's are better at breaking a catch into a long one, so they're yards add up more.

Also, expect TT to extend Finley's contract to reduce the cap hit. More incentives and more guarantee's. Sorry haters!

Nice insight on Hill!
How Hungary is Lee Hill? Might be a good
addition if price is right!
Big men like this are hard to find, (Jolly) type. They help free up the LB's
Hope TT looks into this on both sides of the ball.
3-4 4-3, Capers plays it all.
