Packers Daily Links: Jason Hanson Retires After 21 Season and Never Winning at Lambeau

Indeed, the Lions kicker has never won a road game against the Packers. That and more in today's Daily Links...

Detroit Lions kicker Jason Hanson announced on Thursday he will be retiring from the NFL after 21 season, and not only has he never won a single game in Lambeau Field, he never won a road game against the Packers. "The Lions losing streak on the road against the Packers began in 1992, Hanson's rookie season," writes Noah Trister of the Associated Press. "Detroit has not won a road game against Green Bay since 1991.  That includes games played in Milwaukee in 1992, 1993 and 1994." One consequence of Hanson retiring is that they'll now be in the market for a kicker in the NFL Draft, perhaps competing for one of the few players being looked at by the Packers as well.

The Packers' preseason schedule was released on Thursday with a few newsworthy items of note. "With the game against Seattle, the Packers will have played at least one nationally televised preseason game in 20 of the past 21 seasons," writes Bill Huber of Packer Report. "The obvious story line will be the infamous Fail Mary game from last season, when Seattle stole a 14-12 victory in Week 3." On top of that, the meeting against the Seahawks comes in Week 3 of the preseason when starters typically play the most, which will be a good tune of against one of the best teams in the NFC.

More on the 2013 preseason schedule comes from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Green Bay Press-Gazette, ESPNMilwaukee.com, Wisconsin State Journal and Packers official website, twice.

Information on the Packers' switch from Wells Fargo to Broadridge Corporate User Solutions for their shareholder services comes from Richard Ryman of the Press-Gazette. "Broadridge will handle technical services, such as record-keeping, printing and mailing," writes Ryman. With over 360,000 shareholders, that's a large volume the new company will be in charge of handling.

Following up on Aaron Rodgers' visits to childhood cancer patients on behalf of the MACC Fund is Paul Imig of Fox Sports Wisconsin. "When you get somebody like Aaron, he elevates the awareness level," MACC Fund executive director John Cary is quoted as saying. "Aaron once said, 'What I've come to realize, being a Super Bowl MVP gives me a platform and I'm happy that I can have the MACC Fund on that platform.' He wasn't prompted to say that. You can just tell there's a genuineness there and sincerity." Good on Aaron Rodgers for going above and beyond the call of duty in his charitable endeavors.

That's awesome.

That's seriously an impressive career, though. Hanson has been the Lions kicker literally since I started watching football.

He's probably still better than Mason Crosby.

If the Packers can't draft a decent kicker, maybe they could sign Hanson.
