A former teammate of Anthony Hargrove has come to the Packers defensive lineman's defense, echoing Hargrove's claims that it wasn't his voice on a video the NFL used as evidence against him in the appeal to his eight-game suspension for allegedly taking part in the New Orleans Saints' bounty program. Earl Heyman, who was on the Saints practice squad at the time, told Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com, "I was right there, right there in that closeup [of the defensive huddle] they're talking about. Every time they came off the field I was standing right there talking to them, and I know who said it, and I can say with 100 percent accuracy who said it, and I know 100 percent it wasn't Anthony." The NFL and commissioner Roger Goodell is expected to rule on the players' appeals by the end of the week.

A transcript provided  by Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com shows the exchange the NFL had with the media when the league presented them with evidence shown to the players on Monday in New York. Peter King of Sports Illustrated in particular questions whether it's Anthony Hargove's voice in the video. "I didn’t see that," King is quoted as saying. "I need to hear the ‘Bobby pay me my money’ or something so it’s clearer." This shows that even before Hargrove made his public statement on Tuesday claiming the voice wasn't his, the media questioned whether it was him as well.

Linebacker Clay Matthews caused a stir when he took to social media on Wednesday to contact a pair of NFC North players unhappy with their contracts. "Matthews took to his Twitter account Wednesday afternoon to unofficially invite the two NFC North division rivals to be his roommates in Green Bay," writes Paul Imig of Fox Sports Wisconsin. Matthews, of course, made the comment in jest, but it was entertaining nonetheless, if only to poke fun at the NFC North rivals.
