Safety Morgan Burnett, whose rookie season was wiped out by an ACL tear in the fourth game of 2010, told the Atlanta Journal Constitution his rehab is on schedule and he's ready to go. "Wearing a blue shirt with a beige tie and pants, Burnett was honored by the Georgia Senate today for his accomplishments in football," writes reporter Doug Roberson. "He said he’s known about the resolution for a few weeks, but only recently learned that it was going to occur today. The resolution was co-sponsored by state Senator Valencia Seay (34th district) from Clayton County, where Burnett grew up. Seay’s son was actually a substitute teacher for Burnett’s elementary school class." Burnett will be attending the Georgia Tech pro day workout today in Atlanta in support of his former teammates.

The Packers wide receivers almost unanimously supported new position coach Edgar Bennett despite his background as a running backs coach. “I’m excited about it,” Pro Bowl receiver Greg Jennings told Kareem Copeland of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. “I know he’s ready, he’s champing at the bit and wants to get rolling. He has something he wants to implement, some areas of improvement he feels like he can help us grow. And we feel like we can help him grow at that coaching position. But he understands he has a group of guys that are pretty smart, that are willing to work.” Easing Bennett's transition will be working with a veteran group that includes Jennings, Donald Driver, Jordy Nelson, Brett Swain and possibly James Jones if he returns.

Regarding James Jones, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel says Jones has a "certain detachment from reality" to think that he's being blocked from starting by Donald Driver. "As a result, he probably will have to go somewhere else if he wants to be a starter, but it's not because Driver is in his way," writes Silverstein. "If anything, it's Nelson who's in his way and that's because Jones left him an opening when Driver got hurt." Jones can only sit and wait for a new collective bargaining agreement to his chance at free agency.

The Packers' defensive coaching staff will be staying intact noticed Monty McMahon of Total Packers when the Oakland Raiders made their decision to name a new defensive coordinator. "The Oakland Raiders, who had the lone remaining opening at defensive coordinator, have filled the position with Chuck Bresnahan, who they hired a little over a month ago as a defensive coach without a formal position," writes Monty McMahon of Total Packers. It had been rumored that both Winston Moss and Darren Perry had been candidates for the Raiders job.

The Packers were represented at Auburn's pro day workout yesterday to check out players such as Cam Newton and Nick Fairley. "Representatives from all 32 NFL teams were on hand, including the head coach from teams with five of the first six picks in April's NFL Draft," writes Andy Bitter for CBS Sports. "Carolina's Ron Rivera, Denver's John Fox -- with executive vice president of football operations John Elway and general manager Brian Xanders in tow -- Cincinnati's Marvin Lewis, Whisenhunt and Cleveland's Pat Shurmur were all in attendance, although none elected to speak to the media afterward."
