Packers Coaching In High School: Week 4 Preview

A match-up between two former Packers takes place tonight between Bryce Paup's Green Bay Southwest Trojans against Dexter McNabb's Pulaski Red Raiders.

Several former Green Bay Packers players now coach in the high school ranks. Here's a brief update on this week's games...

  • The weekend's premiere match-up from a Packers perspective is a match-up between two former players, linebacker Bryce Paup (head coach) against fullback Dexter McNabb (athletics director). Paup will lead Green Bay Southwest into Pulaski this evening to take on McNabb's team. The previous week Southwest beat Ashwaubenon to improve to 2-1 on the season. Pulaski beat Bay Port 17-3 to remain undefeated at 3-0.
  • Former quarterback Randy Wright (offensive coordinator) travels with Sturgeon Bay to Southern Door this evening. Sturgeon Bay got their first win of the season last weekend (1-2) over Chilton, 31-10.
  • Waukesha West, with former tight end Mark Chmura as assistant coach, tries to remain undefeated (3-0) as they host Kettle Moraine tonight. Waukesha West beat Mukwonago 31-14 last week.
  • Former wide receiver Don Beebe (head coach) has Aurora Christian at 2-0 as they take on Chicago Christian on the road this evening. They beat Chicago Academy 48-0 last week.
  • Former quarterback Ty Detmer heads up St. Andrews Episcopal School in Austin, Tex. as they take on San Antonio Memorial at home this evening. They lost to St. Mary's Hall 47-13 last week to even their record at 1-1 on the season.
  • Former safety Mark Murphy is an assistant coach at St. Vincent-St. Mary (2-0) in Akron, Oh. where they'll try to remain undefeated as they host St. John's College. St. Vincent-St. Mary won a close one, 48-46, against Walsh Jesuit last week.
  • Former wide receiver Andre Rison (head coach) tries to get Flint Northwestern (1-1) in Michigan back on the winning track as they take on Cedar Springs on the road tonight after losing to Pontiac Notre Dame Prep 28-7 the previous week.
  • Former linebacker Ben Taylor (assistant coach) hopes to improve his team's 0-1 record at Skyline High School in Front Royal, Va. as they host Faquier this evening. Skyline had previously lost to Musselman 30-14 back on Aug. 26.

Brian, thanks for keeping track of this. Your recent teacher perspective gives creedence to opinions, and plus just simply nice hearing how some folks, like Chewy for instance, are doing these days.
