Packers Coaching in High School: Mark Murphy Undefeated at St. Vincent-St. Mary

Several former Green Bay Packers players now coach in the high school ranks. Here's a brief update on this week's games...

  • Former linebacker Bryce Paup leads 4-2 Green Bay Southwest into a matchup this evening against cross-town rival but winless Green Bay West 0-6.
  • Pulaski, with former fullback Dexter McNabb as athletics director and fullbacks coach, hosts Green Bay Notre Dame tonight in a matchup of teams with identical 4-1 conference records.
  • Waukesha West remains undefeated (6-0) with former tight end Mark Chmura as an assitant coach. They play at home against Catholic Memorial who only has one loss (3-1) in the Classic Eight Conference.
  • Coming off a tough 36-31 loss last weekend, Sturgeon Bay (3-3) looks to rebound as they play host to Manitowoc Roncalli (3-3). Former quarterback Randy Wright is Sturgeon Bay's offensive coordinator.
  • Former wide receiver Don Beebe lost his first game of the season last week as head coach of Aurora Christian in Illinois having been defeated by Montini 55-14. Tonight they aim to get back on the winning track at home against Walther Lutheran.
  • After a loss last week to Fort Worth All Saints 38-7, former quarterback Ty Detmer looks to get St. Andrews Episcopal (2-3) in Austin, Tex. back to .500 with a game tonight against Cistercian.
  • With former wide receiver Andre Rison as head coach, Flint Northwestern in Michigan lost another tough one 44-42 last week to Hazel Park to drop to 1-4 on the year. They look to get back on the winning track tonight by hosting Swartz Creek.
  • St. Vincent-St.Mary of Akron, Ohio remained undefeated (5-0) with a 17-14 win over Hoban last weekend. Tonight they have home-field advantage as they take on Garfield with former safety Mark Murphy as assistant coach.
  • Following a win last week versus Wood, Skyline High School in Front Royal, Virginia got to .500 (2-2). With former linebacker Ben Taylor as assitant coach, they hope to add to the win column tonight at home against Kettle Run.
