Packers Calendar: Post-Super Bowl Goodwill Mission

Linebacker Brad Jones is one of a group of several Packers on a goodwill mission at an overseas military base in Japan.

The Super Bowl is over, but the goodwill mission continues for a group of Green Bay Packers, who spent Sunday at an American military base in Japan.

Linebacker Brad Jones, offensive lineman Greg Van Roten, former Packers fullback William Henderson and trainer Pepper Burruss watched the Super Bowl, took photos and signed autographs for sailors at the Yokosuka Naval Base.

“This isn’t about sightseeing or tourism. We’re here to meet the enlisted men and women who are actually serving,” Henderson is quoted as saying at Stripes.com. “We are privileged to be here today.”

Seeing Jones taking part in such a trip overseas on his free time helps you understand why he was recently nominated for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award.

The Packers players on the trip were joined by Arizona Cardinals cornerback Justin Bethel.
