Packers Calendar: NFL Super Regional Combine

Packers scouts will be in Arizona on Saturday checking out 120 pro prospects.

The NFL's annual Super Regional Combine is being held on Saturday at the Arizona Cardinals Training Facility in Tempe, where the Green Bay Packers will be represented.

The Super Regional Combine is comprised of 120 players that were deemed worthy of invitation after taking part in one of five regional combines held around the country earlier this year.

Where the Super Regional Combine is being held is important because it's the same site of the league's annual meeting, which starts on Sunday. That means there will be coaches and executives from all 32 teams arriving in the Phoenix area in advance of the annual meeting that will be checking out the prospects.

NFL scouts will also be in attendance, and with no pro day workouts scheduled this particular Saturday, the attention of the league's scouting community can focus on the talent at the Super Regional Combine.

It goes without saying that the players taking part in the Super Regional aren't the cream of the crop. They weren't among the 325 players invited to the NFL's Scouting Combine in Indianapolis in February.

However, that doesn't make the players working out on Saturday worthless.

Last year, NFL teams brought 66 players to training camp that took part in either the Super Regional Combine and/or a Regional Combine, according to NFLDraftScout.com. Furthermore, 29 of the 32 teams had at least one such player on their roster. The Packers in particular had three.

On Saturday, it's all about finding the players that slip through the cracks, the potential diamond in the rough that otherwise might not have been discovered.

A complete list of players invited can be found at Colts.com. The NFL's inaugural Veteran Combine takes place on Sunday.
