Packers Calendar: Mike McCarthy, Ted Thompson Face the Music

The brain trust of the Green Bay Packers will hold press conferences Friday morning at the NFL Combine.

INDIANAPOLIS––Not that Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson have to answer for any wrongdoing––unless you consider an 8-7-1 season and a loss in the wildcard round of the playoffs wrongdoing––but they will meet the media Friday morning at the NFL Combine.

McCarthy will kick off the day, holding a press conference at 9:00 a.m. CT, the first head coach in the league to do so on Friday. The head coach will be asked to look at the 2013 season in retrospect and then the changes to take place this upcoming year.

It will be much the same for the team's general manager as Thompson will be asked plenty about the upcoming round of free agency and the team's high number of players scheduled to hit the open market.

Make sure to follow along with myself and any number of Packers beat writers on Twitter for real-time updates. And, of course, we'll have coverage later in the day.

Later on Friday, new special teams assistant coach Ron Zook will get his first opportunity to analyze prospects as the specialists have their workout at the Combine.

Offensive linemen and tight ends also get measured and do the bench press on Friday, so the action is starting to heat up. There will be coverage on the NFL Network and SiriusXM NFL Radio throughout the day.

I'm sure it will be enlightening:

MM: "I like my guys."

TT: "I'm not going to tell you who I like."

Somebody needs to ask if they plan to move Micah Hyde to Safety.

I'd be interested in hearing a direct answer to that question, but they probably won't give a direct answers to it when a vague answer will suffice; plus, it may depend on what they do in the draft and possibly in free agency.

I think MM said it was "an option."

That's about as specific as you can hope for.

Paul Imig made the switch of Hyde to Safety a focus of his article on last year's rookie class.

McCarthy: "I think (Hyde) has earned the opportunity to compete to be on the field all three downs."

Sounds like it is at least a fall back plan if TT fails to sign or draft someone better. Good. They should have done that Day 1 of TC last year.

"unless you consider an 8-7-1 season and a loss in the wildcard round of the playoffs wrongdoing."

It's certainly not right.

The likelihood that GB ever makes the playoffs (again) with an 8-7-1 record is close to zero. --- The truth is the Pack had a dreadful season in 2013 for many reasons. (lack of talent, lack of depth, injuries, lack of a back-up plan, etc.)

All Packer Fans need to remember the foul taste of an 8-8-1 season. --- TT & MM are responsible. That's the way the world works.

My post has nothing to do with any other team. I didn't mention any other team.

You need to stop the straw man responses. Stick to the subject, if you can.

That's soooo funny , ha ha. WTF is your purpose for posting anyway? You say you're a fan but you can't stand TT & MM. All you do is find fault with everything the Packers do. You keep bringing up 8-8-1 when they lost AR & CM for half the season. WTF team goes into any season with a back up plan? You put a team on the field with the best players you can afford. IMO you are just an asshole that likes to stir the pot.

Please read for comprehension.
I don't hate anyone. I have expressed my views more than once regarding both TT/MM.

TT/MMs days are numbered unless GB actually improves in season 2014. That's a fact of life. I have nothing to do with it.

Exactly right, get rid of TT and MM. The buck stops here or just blame injuries and etc. on everyone else. They shouldn't be at the combine if they don't know what their looking for. The Pack needs professional football players, not college boys. Of course, they could put Lacy back on the development squad and take two years to develop him.

Arlo, if I had told you before the season the Packers would lose Rodgers for half the year and still finish even and make the playoffs, you'd have laughed in my face. It's to their credit the Rodgers-less Packers didn't finish 4-12. If you don't like TT/MM, fine, but at least be intellectually honest in your arguments.

TT has been GM for ten years. Almost all GMs eventually wear out their usefulness for one team. TT has only been average since winning the SB in season 2010. TT has this year to deviate from his past failures & return GB to an elite status.

This happens all the time in all major sports. I didn't invent it.

My opinion & choice: The Pack need a GM who's younger, bolder and willing to use all the tools afforded him to create the best possible 53-man roster.

AR's days are running short.

Last season was "dreadful?" I'm not saying PackerNation should be happy about it, but we're clearly spoiled.

There is a kickstarter project for a coloring book "Why is Daddy Sad on Sundays?" It depicts the 50 most depressing moments in Cleveland sports. Its goal was to raise $2,000. It has raised more than $8K so far.

Be happier and pray for #12's health.

So you're saying because of the 'Cleveland Fiasco' all Packer Fans should be happy with 8-8-1? What is the connection?

Ever heard of the word "relevance"?

We could get arlo a puppy and he would be bitching about it pissing and shiting all over. When it gets potty trained he will get pissed that it is barking all the time. When it gets old he will be pissed that it is lazy and start talking about getting a new dog. He is probably one of them losers bitching about minimum wage and if it goes up he will be bitching about all of the price increases that follow. You are a turd arlo, you can put on all the lipstick and makup you want but you will just be a turd with lipstick and makeup.

Your posts serve 'zero' purpose & provide zero for anyone (except, of course, yourself).

My guess: --- A few more weeks & you will no longer post here.

Why? --- You have nothing to say.
