Packers Calendar: Mike McCarthy Faces the Music

The head coach of the Packers has a press conference at 3:30 p.m. CT on Friday following a season-opening loss.

After a long flight home from Seattle, the Green Bay Packers will attempt to get some sleep.

Then in the afternoon, head coach Mike McCarthy will hold his regular day-after-game press conference at 3:30 p.m. CT.

McCarthy's meeting with the media will be streamed live at Packers.com, during which the coach will have to explain how his team got out-classed by the defending Super Bowl champion.

Predictably, there will more lowlights than highlights to discuss with subpar performances turned in by the Packers in each phase of the game: offense, defense and special teams.

Focus will then shift to where the Packers go from here, how they can regroup and try to get back to a level where they can still challenge for a division championship.

The beginning of a mini-bye week starts with nine days off until the Packers' next game against the New York Jets Sept. 14 at Lambeau Field.

An injury to Bryan Bulaga will be under much scrutiny, because if it's of the season-ending variety, the Packers may want to make a move as soon as possible to bring in a new tackle and have as long as possible to learn the offense during the next nine days.

This will be the last "Packers Calendar" post from myself here at Cheesehead TV until Sept. 18 when I return from vacation. The rest of our writing staff will keep you updated in the interim. Until then, Go Pack Go.

They need to bring in a tackle regardless of Bulaga's injury. He's proven to be fragile, and they have nothing decent behind him.

Canned questions and canned answers is all we will get. Who cares?

Think one of the hard-hitting member of the Wisconsin press corps will ask MM about the BIG LETTERS he told them to use in guaranteeing an improved D in 2014 ?

Me neither.

Soft questions will be tossed to the head coach of a soft team.

Reporter: Mike who came up with the game plan that limiting Arod to half the field was a brilliant idea?

MM: George Bush..........I think.

Hey before the season started MM was just giddy about his defense. Maybe he is drinking the wrong go juice, or he is in the wrong job. This D isn't even to the level of average Mikey.
