Fans in town for the Detroit Lions game on Sunday may want to take advantage of an autograph session on Saturday with a pair of Irish Packers alumni: Larry McCarren and Mike McCoy.
The pair will be visiting with fans at the Packers Pro Shop on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 2:30 to 4 p.m.
McCarren, one of the most durable and dependable athletes ever to wear Packers green and gold, is fifth in team annals for most consecutive games played with 162. A 12th-round pick in 1973, the two-time Pro Bowler and Packers Hall of Famer, nicknamed “The Rock,” played 12 seasons at center for the Packers before beginning a career in sports broadcasting and becoming a fan favorite on the Packers Radio Network.
McCoy, drafted No. 1 by the Packers and second overall in 1970, started at defensive tackle for the Packers from the opening game of his rookie year. Named the Packers Rookie of the Year by the Wisconsin Pro Football Writers, he went on to rank among the NFL’s premier defensive tackles. A dominant figure on the Packers’ front line, McCoy recovered nine fumbles throughout his seven seasons.
Both former Packers players will be introduced at Lambeau Field during pre-game festivities on Sunday.
