Packers Calendar: Marshall Newhouse Visits Bengals

The former Packers offensive lineman is able to sign wherever he wants as a free agent.

The Cincinnati Bengals announced on Twitter on Tuesday:

After starting 29 games for the Packers in 2011 and 2012, Newhouse started just two this past season, falling out of favor in the Packers offense.

One thing Newhouse has always been able to do is stay healthy and available. There are worse qualities he could bring to a new team as a backup offensive lineman.

Unfortunately, Newhouse will bring worse qualities too, such as getting beat far too often off the edge.

No deal appears imminent at this time.

The Packers are probably willing to let Newhouse walk and hopefully receive a compensatory draft choice if the contract he signs is big enough. Given that Newhouse doesn't figure to sign a big deal, however, he may not qualify.
