Packers Calendar: LB Desmond Bishop Reportedly Visits 49ers

The former Packers linebacker is making a free agent visit to San Francisco on Monday.

It's the dead time of the offseason with little going on in the world of the Green Bay Packers with the exception of third-wave free agency signings and pro-day workouts.

There's a notable event taking place regarding a former member of the Packers on Monday, however.

Linebacker Desmond Bishop will visit the San Francisco 49ers on Monday, according to Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com:

Bishop played for the Packers for five seasons from 2007 to 2011 and was starter on the Super Bowl XLV team.

The 49ers are looking to fill the void left by the retirements of Chris Borland and Patrick Willis this offseason, but Bishop is just one of a couple players they're considering.

Fellow linebackers Erin Henderson and Lance Briggs have been brought in or will be brought in for visits as well.

Bishop played in the final two games of the 2014 season with the 49ers but only signed a one-year contract, making him a free agent once again.

Injuries have dogged Bishop since late in his tenure with the Packers when a torn hamstring was the beginning of the end for his time with the green and gold.

After signing with the rival Minnesota Vikings in 2013, Bishop landed on injured reserve with a torn ACL just four games into the season.

Prior to signing with the 49ers last season, Bishop also spent time on the roster of the Arizona Cardinals, although he never played in a regular-season game for them.

As far as pro-day workouts go, events being held on Monday include those at Indiana, Massachusetts and South Alabama.

The Packers do not publicize which particular campuses they visit, but they are typically represented at a majority of them.
