Packers Calendar: Deadline to Sell 3,000 Tickets by 4:00 P.M. to Avoid Blackout
The Packers were granted an extension by the NFL to continue selling tickets and avoiding a local television blackout.
As of Thursday evening, the Green Bay Packers still had approximately 3,000 tickets remaining to Sunday's wildcard matchup with the San Francisco 49ers at Lambeau Field.
The NFL granted the organization an extension on the league's blackout deadline, originally 72 hours before kickoff, now at 4:00 p.m. CT on Friday.
If the Packers don't sell out, the game is in danger of being blacked out in local television markets, including Green Bay, the Fox Valley, Milwaukee and Wausau. However, it seems likely that a deep-pocketed sponsor would step up and buy the remaining tickets to prevent the Packers from suffering such an indignity.
Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster, either online or in person at Ticketmaster outlets. No phone orders will be transacted. No limit exists on the number of tickets that can be purchased. Those purchasing tickets online will be required to use Ticketmaster’s “print at home” feature to obtain their tickets.
Prices, set by the NFL, range from $102 to $125, depending on location.
Tickets also can be purchased in person at the Packers ticket office. The Packers ticket office is open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
The Packers are also seeking the help of the public for snow and ice removal on Friday morning starting at 9:00 a.m.
Interested helpers – as many as 200 – are asked to report to the Mills Fleet Farm Gate on Lambeau Field’s west side, beginning at 9 a.m., Friday, Jan. 3, and continuing through the day as needed.
Shovelers need to be at least 15 years old and will receive $10 per hour, with payment to be made immediately upon completion of their work. The Packers will provide shovels to all who come to help.
Later on Friday, the Packers will practice for the final time before their playoff game this weekend.
Packers head coach Mike McCarthy will meet with the media at 12:25 p.m. CT in a post-practice press conference to be streamed live on the team's official website.
The team will also release its final injury report of the week on Friday afternoon as well as game-day status projections (probable, questionable, doubtful, or out).

Without the expansion, the game would be sold out. With lower ticket prices, the game would be sold out.

It's not embarrassing. This will happen more and more unless the ticket prices go way down. No way in hell would I fork out $120.00 to sit in the freezing cold when I can just sit and watch from the comfort of home in front of the big screen. I get a better view of everything going on not to mention much better food and drink at reasonable prices. The NFL did it to themselves by making the product they put on TV more appealing and a lot cheaper than going to the stadium.

Apparenly you don't get the idea of being at an Event! Nothing like it... Lambeau is a special place and even tho I've been to many games there, I still get a chill down my spine when I walk into the stadium! You need to experience it if your a real Packer fan.
Your probably the type to sit on his ass at home and watch life pass you by! Go out and Live Life!

Some interesting facts I just read on the internet.
#1 Since 2000, San Fran is 3-9 below 40 degrees.
#2 No player on the 49's has played in a game below 32 degrees.
#3 The coldest game Kaperneck has played in was 20 degrees, & that was at Nevada.
#4 In the last 2 years, SF hasn't played a game below 34 degrees.
#5 Jim Harbaugh sited a win over the Pats at 34 degrees, & a win over Philly at 35 degrees.

As cold as it will be people will be more inclined to stay in their own castle, stay warm and spend less than $20 on food and drinks. Compound that with only knowing for a week you even had a playoff spot and it makes if difficult to sellout all things considered.
I pity all the fools who will pay $3-$5K next month to freeze their arse off in nose-bleed sections just so they can boast they were at the Super Bowl. Not to mention the $$$$$ that they will have spent on food, lodging, travel and entertainment. Simply not affordable for most Americans.

It was a perfect storm of events that lead to the slow sales:
1. Playoff Ticket Policy change, essentially giving the team a mandatory interest-free loan if the Packers do not advance into the playoffs
2. Tickets offered during one of the worst losing streaks in recent memory
3. Playoff chances were bleak and Rodgers didn't have a set return date when tickets were first offered
4. Playoff berth not locked until less than 7 days before the game
5. Christmas/New Years (cost of presents/traveling/time off mean wallets may be stretched)
6. Record-setting cold + wind predicted
7. More seats this year, more than the other teams have to fill
Put it all together, makes it impressive that they even came that close to selling out without an extension.

I'm about 60,000 on the season ticket waiting list, but I'd buy two tickets to this game if I could. Cold or not, it's the playoffs and we have Aaron Rodgers. Enough said. If I still lived in Madison, I'd be there.
