Packers' 46-Man Roster Prediction Week 8 at the Vikings

Nick Perry and Brad Jones are officially questionable for Sunday's game. Will they play? Find out in our roster prediction.

Here's our best guess at predicting the Green Bay Packers' game-day roster for Sunday's Week 8 game at the Minnesota Vikings. Reminder, only 46 players can be active...

The entire roster is included. Those bold and italicized are predicted to be inactive...

Quarterback: Aaron Rodgers, Seneca Wallace

Running back: Eddie Lacy, John Kuhn, James Starks, Johnathan Franklin

Wide receiver: Jordy Nelson, James Jones, Jarrett Boykin, Myles White, Chris Harper

Tight end: Jermichael Finley, Andrew Quarless, Ryan Taylor, Brandon Bostick, Jake Stoneburner

Offensive line: David Bakhtiari, Josh Sitton, Evan Dietrich-Smith, T.J. Lang, Don Barclay, Marshall Newhouse, Lane Taylor

Defensive line: Datone Jones, B.J. Raji, Ryan Pickett, C.J. Wilson, Johnny Jolly, Mike Daniels, Josh Boyd

Outside linebacker: Clay Matthews, Nick Perry, Mike Neal, Nate Palmer, Andy Mulumba

Inside linebacker: A.J. Hawk, Brad Jones, Jamari Lattimore, Sam Barrington

Cornerback: Tramon Williams, Sam Shields, Casey Hayward, Micah Hyde, Davon House, Jarrett Bush, James Nixon

Safety: Morgan Burnett, M.D. Jennings, Jerron McMillian, Chris Banjo

Special teams: Mason Crosby, Tim Masthay, Brett Goode

Commentary:

  • Clay Matthews (thumb), Jermichael Finley (neck) and Ryan Taylor (knee) have all been ruled out for the Vikings game.
  • James Jones (knee) is doubtful, making it rather likely he won't play. It seems rather odd for Jones to go from questionable last week to doubtful the next. There had been no reports that he suffered a setback.
  • Linebackers Nick Perry (foot) and Brad Jones (hamstring) are both listed as questionable and both practiced at least in some capacity this week. Given the Packers' cautious approach to injuries, the guess here is that neither of them plays. But it wouldn't be earth-shattering if they do.
  • Casey Hayward (hamstring) is probable this week, and figures to make his first appearance of the regular season.
  • Jarrett Bush (hamstring) is also listed as probable after missing the last two games. His return will give a boost to the special teams.
  • After making his professional debut last week, Josh Boyd is relegated back to the ranks of the inactive this week.
  • Jerron McMillian didn't practice Friday, but the Packers indicated it wasn't injury-related. He's listed as probable.
  • If either Jones or Perry plays, McMillian or James Nixon might be next to be placed on the inactive list.

I think Brad Jones has a higher chance of playing this week then Perry. If Brad Jones plays I am thinking Nixon will be the man down. Although I wouldn't be surprised if McMillan was left off.
He has really seemed to regress this year.

Jones is just another example of MM screwing with the injury reports. I personally did not think Jones would be hopping right back. If MM says next week its probably closer to three and your right on.
If Hayward is probably then I expect another two weeks.

one of Perry or Jones has to play. its Adrian peterson and the vikings love to go to the TE. need linebackers.

i'm guessing Perry is he least susceptable to re-injury so he plays. based on my years of no medical training, of course...

I'd say a broken bone that's likely not completely healed is highly susceptible to re-injury. That's what my journalism degree tells me anyway.

20 years as a carpenter, so yeah, I think I know a thing or two about hamstring pulls and broken foot bones.. Perry-out, Jones-out. Lattimore will cover them.

Lattimore is a better coverage linebacker than either Perry or Jones.

I think he based it on watching Lattimore play.

So he's a coach/scout/analyst watching the game tape and tracking all of lattimore's plus and minus plays? Gotcha.

Would love to see Casey eased into the line-up this week and next. No need to rush back Perry or Jones (either one). Special Teams coverage is the only thing that concerns me this week (I hope Bush is ready to play, and I hope our kick-off coverage unit is real busy!). That and more injuries. I'll be disappointed if this is a close game in the second half, but as long as it's a win it doesn't really matter.

Thinking Nixon sits for Boyd to rotate in and stop AD. But then again, if GB goes up big early, they'll be passing.

#1 No injuries
#2 Win!!

I agree, I went back and looked at some of the draft reports on this kid. Scouts liked him and obviously so did Seattle and the 49ers, at least for a minute. Like so many Packers receivers before him, Packers QB's going all the way back to 1992 have a habit of making most receivers into producers on the field. I can see it now, Harper making a TD catch against either Seattle or San Fransisco in the playoffs!

McMillian is a decent run stopper, so hope he's available. Coaches just want to keep the opposition guessing, so I'm ok with the uncertainty. Really glad Bush is back. He cuts down the return field of play. Not going to be a lot of room for AP inside with Jolly, Raji, and Pickett. Mulumba and Palmer will be tested. Neal will help. I really really wish Perry could play cuz he sets a hard edge, which is why I think he has a chance. He could be a key difference maker in this game.
