PackerChatters Responds
By Aaron Nagler on May 22, 2009 with 36 Comments
From Larry Garot of PackerChatters, in response to my post:
After reading the above today I am compelled to reply;
First of all PackerChatters.com IS the #1 Green Bay Packers fan website according to the latest Alexa rankings and actually the #3 overall Packers site behind only the team site for the Packers, Packers.com, and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal. With that it is not just that we are the #1 fan site the rankings show that.
Second – we are very proud and supportive of all our Staff writers contributions.
Third – our Podcasts show, Packers Therapy, with Chris and Dave are very popular not only in iTunes but a Google search for iTunes Green Bay Packers also bears that out.Â
Fourth – Ever do a Google search for Green Bay Packer Message Boards Forums?Â
These are just a few examples of how the fans, not only Packer fans, and our members have enjoyed what we do and have done for so many years. We work hard to offer the best we can and will have a re-launch of the entire PackerChatters.com available soon.
We wish Cheesehead all the best in his blog but to come out and blatantly attack anothers place is amateurish, immature and frankly uncalled for.
Remember we are all Packer fans.

So Larry’s whole argument is that they are big. You get big when you’ve been around since 1995. You’ll note, of course, that Larry offers nothing in defense of the actual content of his site, and keeps everything defined in the parameters of how they show up in search. He can’t even bring himself to defend his fascist forum policies, completely disregarding the fact that the whole point of my argument is that they are attempting to impede the flow of Packer-related info to and from their own readers. I’ll just end by agreeing with Larry on his final point – we are all Packer fans, which is what makes his policies all the more disappointing.

PackerChatters’ writing talent on display:
“With that it is not just that we are the #1 fan site the rankings show that.”
dude who is Cheesehead?
“We wish Cheesehead”
That was a weird response…sort of proves the point all in itself.
So, why don’t you allow links again?
holy crap we’re ranked 12th?
like I have been saying – 2nd Largest Packer Fan website in the world..nice
Hey PackerChatters. You have reached the peak of traffic. You have lost your relevance and are being digested by Cheesehead Nation.
Corey – when I joined, my handle was Cheesehead TV. They (shocking, I know) wouldn’t allow it and THEY changed my name to Cheesehead…
this is interesting Compete Stats for Chatters vs CHTV
Any word on potential free agent signings? RB? QB? DL? Any info on the new draft choices? Any chance we could get info on the team?
They must be stopped!
By “attacking others,” what they usually mean is “disagreeing with them.”
The only thing more “amateurish” is censoring and altering peoples posts.
Who the hell cares about them. Dumbasses bore me.
Rainman–
Where have you been the last month? More analysis here than you will find anywhere else. Live draft blog anyone?
The draft has been dissected. You can still find plenty of re-tread articles all over though.
Has anyone here ever been in the military? I am, merely because up here in Canada they’ll pay for a degree in exchange for a small obligation of service as an officer. Anyways, Packerchatters reminds me of an old sergeant I know who likes to say “welcome to military” whenever a lower ranked individual asked “why are we doing this stupid shit?”. Some people are so stuck in tradition and blindly doing things because that’s how they’ve always been done, failing to see the redundancy of their own actions and methods, and missing the notion that there may be a better way. Larry Garot and Packerchatters are obviously of the “old school” method, hoarding the visitors and “hits”. PC should step into the new age of global communication in which thoughts are shared so that all of us fans can benefit. Conversely, there is a benefit to moderating the forums so that there are less moronic posts that only serve to detract from the conversation. For example, the JSonline and ESPN blog comment sections seem to be completely posted by uneducated, angry, twelv-teens. Though the sergeant I know is an old dog with outdated techniques, he is extremely effective at trimming the fat if you will…
-Any Experienced QB’s out there with history in the west coast we could bring in to push our second and third string guys?
-Thoughts on Collins and how his absent, business or not will effect the the new defence?
-Should the Packers offer a contract extension for Kampman this year when we have lot’s of cap space available, possibly front loading it, or should we wait till he proves himself and sign him next year when we may not have as much room.
-Since we do not seem to be adding any free agents, have we always had personnel better suited for the 3-4 or are we overlooking needs? If we always had personnel for the 3-4 why were adding these if we were running a 4-3?
-I guess I’m just not interested in the editing practices of a site I never go to.
The stats are interesting Corey. They tanked this time last year. Do you think that’s because of all the Favre drama last year and the numerous sites that had a spin on it?
____________
You guys look pretty good considering how long you’ve been around
____________
And I still think we should be talking about the LFL.
HELL YES. Thanks for letting me know about the LFL Andrew!!
@rainman, I think all your topics have been addressed in this blog, just not on the forums where its convenient to look up. Also lots of talk about THE vet QB with the most experience in the WCO. Check to the left for recent blog entries on Collins and Kampman, go back to the Fan Fest coverage for stellar coverage of the switch to 3-4, including interesting insight to Winston Moss.
The battles continue. First, Aaron takes on Bedard. Now, he swipes at the #1 Packer site on the web. This is, indeed, the slowest time of the NFL offseason.
_____
I have pretty much only distain for PackerChatters as I mentioned in Aaron’s preceding blog. I do appreciate CHTV.
_____
However, the last post on CHTV’s forum was on May 13th, 2009. (Thread – Off-Season and Draft). That’s over a week ago. That’s called a non-existant forum.
_____
Many times Aaron has posted an intelligent well written blog that elicits a ‘whopping’ 6 responses. Most of the responses come from the Packer blogging fraternity. As Seinfeld would say: “This is not good.”
_____
My Point: Numbers do count. The CHTV posse has rallied around CHTV & bloggers in general but to what end. There should be more traffic here & other Packer blogs. What’s your plan ???
Come on Aaron, no need to turn your great site into bickering trash that is JSOnline.
PLEASE DON’T GO TO THE DARK SIDE YOUNG JEDI!!!
Not to worry. I’ve had that in my system for some time. It’s all out now.
Hi Aaron, thought this whole ordeal deserved one more rebuttal, here it is: http://wpingel.com/?p=46

Good stuff Wally. Thanks very much.
PackerChatters is the #1 Packers fan site in the same way that Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face” is the #1 song in the nation.
Is this the annual forum wars?? Well, I can understand why both sites (CHTV & Chatters) would stay away from the “King” of Packer sites timesfour.com
I’ve had marklawrence come over to X4 and “chastise” some of the posters. Yes, that guy is something else.
Yes Chatters does come up in searches. That’s great. I’d like to hear some bandwidth numbers from CHTV and Chatters. X4 had 40 GB of bandwidth for the month of April and about 1 million views. This is the true “test” of any website. FYI, Timesfour has ZERO ads, something I’m very proud of as our regular users donate to help defray bandwidth costs.
Larry’s a good guy & I’m glad he has a place that Packer fans can gather and talk about their obsession. For me, links from timesfour.com to other Packer sites are allowed and encouraged. You should definitely take a look-see at what is out there, then choose the forum that suits you best.
Carry on boys & girls! Stomp the BEARS!
Boris- I love the X4 forums
WoodyG- I know the posting on the Packer Fan Forum is anemic. Why don’t u hook us up?
Wally- I left 2 comments at your site. peeps check em out before they get taken down. Great rebuttal Wally I must say- I agreed with a lot…it didn’t make me as angry as sorry ass Larry Garot’s comment.
Thanks Corey and thanks to Wally too!
“No matter what you may think about how the forums are managed, the 300,000 page views it generated in April say that no matter what many, many people don’t have a problem with way they are managed.”
That’s what I was looking for.
Boris,
X4 does rule.
Hi Corey – I responded to both your comments and as I said there, my site is not PC, I don’t have a problem with the discussion at all.
-W
Aaron, great site but you really can’t be such a pussy with PackerFlappers. A site that deliberately pimps frauds and sycophants and then tries to pass that sad arse circus off as Packer fandom, I tell you THIS WILL NOT STAND! (or at least be great material for comedy).
Good stuff otherwise Aaron.
Packerchatters is a very well run site run by a well respected man. Before you went off on your rant against PackerChatters I never heard of you or your fly by nite 3rd rate site. I feel your just jealous of a well respected man who runs a better site then your own.
It’s “you’re just jealous” and “a better site THAN your own”. Why do the basic laws of grammer seem to escape those that frequent that well respected site?
Big deal the search engines have you ranked…also known as chatters gets spammed more then the rest of us !
Here is a concept .. no a challenge to Chatters, the Lounge,PackerForum,Packernews.net,Cheeseheadtv, Packershome and X4 forums and blogs.
Let’s work together in 2009 to give the Packer fans a blanket coverage of the Pack.
No more banned links or his is bigger than mine crap.
Better yet why not a Packer website network… independent but working together to achieve the same goal.
The gauntlet is thrown down. How about we talk about it gentleman ?
Packerhq.net – Well put and I for one am all for it.
-W
Ditto, PackerHQ …. Big time DITTO.
I’m hiring someone with expert knowledge of web design this summer, so as to get IPB working the way it’s been envisioned. We will, of course, create link(s) to all of the better Fan Sites, as long as they emulate one thing: Our Club Motto -
————–
“There’s Always Room for 1 More Packerfan!”

That’s all I ever ask – a little Lambeau Hospitality!!!
Sup Guys,
For those that don’t know me, I am the site owner of the PantherCoalition.
Yeah, we go through this very same thing all the time. The site wars are never ending it seems ! LOL
Sure, my site is unknown compared to many within the Panther webring & most of it is due to lack of advertising.
Also, I don’t tolerate a lot of trash from know it all’s, bullies or grammar nazi’s.
IMO is is far more important to be compassionate than worry about someone ”knowledge of the game” or how they spell a word…fans come in all shapes & sizes.
We treat people just as we want to be treated & we enforce that policy loudly.
As to the bigger sites ?
Yeah..we get smart*** comments from what I consider to be kids who say things like what was posted above.
”You have a rinky dink 3rd rate site, your graphics are this & that yadda, yadda…then we have people who frequent the bigger sites who come to our place to chill when the heat is on at their place ! LMAO
At the COALITION, anyone is more than welcome to leave a link or banner in their signature if they wish as long as it’s sports or charity related.
What is funny is that 2 of the bigger sites will not allow anyone to leave links, regardless I let their members who do hang at our place from time to time leave links no matter what.
If we are a rinky dink site & 3rd rate why do they fear our link on their sites ?
IMO it’s all about BRASS, I make sure things run smooth when the kitchen gets hot, if you can’t make it at the COALITION…you gotta be trouble ! LOL
We try to reach out for a face to face at camp for the benefit of our fanbase as well as our sites & nobody bites because they talk sh** & then are too scared to show up & back up their mouth & our only objective is PEACE.
As a matter a fact, me & the family are moving to Spartanburg SC within 2 weeks because it is the PERFECT location for the COALITIONS homebase being that is where the Panthers hold Summer Camp and close to Asheville & the Great Smokey Mts as well.
It was always in my plan, now it’s about to be reality, being at camp daily is paramount for the site as we grow.
In short, I’m a 45 year old Army & Air Force Vet, I don’t have time for childs play…if someone wants to knock my site for whatever reason..have at it.
Either way when it’s all said & done those people who really want peace & care to help others more than complain will ALWAYS make my site click & we will get to the top without selling out to anyone.
We will be 2 years old come June 5th & only now scratching the surface as to what we can do, trust me..WE WILL GET THERE.
You fine people be blessed & your always welcome to drop in.
