Cashman makes sense based on the info you give here. A lot of these guys really don't. What really matters is what does our new DC want, and can he work well on a team with MLF & Gutey building out a championship roster.

GPG!

Currently, based on 64 snaps a game, there'd be 160 snaps for the linebackers. Quay will probably be out there for about 50 of them. I think we'll keep Campbell, and he'll be good for almost as many....say 40, and then McDuffie, who could play 30. That leaves about 40 snaps per game to make up, and it doesn't allow for any injuries.

In addition to those three, we also have Cox, Mosby, and Banks under cheap FA contracts, and perhaps that can help make up some of the snaps. But I still think we're a guy short.

Leatherhead, maybe you or someone can answer this. If GB cuts Campbell with a June 1st date, what do we save on the rest of his contract? And second, if GB keeps him in 2024 and cuts him before 2025, what do we then save on the rest of his contract? I know he gets a big chunk of money this year even if we let him go, unless his contract is redone. I guess regardless of if he agrees to a salary cut, do we see more declining play?

I have liked the idea of Bobby Wagner for a while. His play is stellar, 183 tackles is phenomenal, at any age. The projected price is a great incentive to sign him. His leadership and teaching skills are priceless. Our run D would be 100% better. 2 years @ $5 million each and he can then hand the reins to our draft pick.

I wanted GB to get Cashman out of college. He ran 4.5 @ the combine. Low mileage. Special teams. good coverage skills, and price is great.

I think this would be a great signing, and probably allows us enough room to pursue a bargain, young FA Edge signing like A J Epenesa. It will be tough to find a decent Edge later in the draft.

Devin White. Some people just say no. The commentator doesn't like him. He doesn't do everything he should. OK. Consider this for a sec, 524 TACKLES in 5 years, 3 Ints, 6 ff. This guy really sucks!! I sure wouldn't want that paltry production on my team. He is a 25 year old defensive GAMECHANGER!! He needs coached up and we have a new DC that has great communication skills. We have a new supposedly fabulous LB coach too.

White is exactly the type of hair on fire LB we have needed for 20 years. He ran his combine 40 in 4.42. And he is projected to get only $7 million per year. This would be a huge opportunity to miss out on. Take the chance, White is a turnover looking for a place to happen.

The other guy that I wish he would have had info on was Willie Gay. He is also a 4.5 guy like White and Cashman. A very aggressive play who hasn't broke out yet, and he made the Chiefs roster for 4 years. He is young so he fits our young team, and he also plays with hair on fire. I can't imagen Gay gets more $$ than Cashman, so the price is right on him too.

I hope the Packers do not take a slow wait and see what shakes out with their FA search. We are not chasing the top 3 players at any FA position, so waiting will just lose us any chance to sign any of these guys. And it won't help with the FA Safeties we are wanting either. Overpaying these guys might be a million, not 5 million. Be aggressive, get the guys we want and then we can kill the draft.

I have done some interesting research on 2 FA linebackers who have been mentioned as Packers targets, Patrick Queen and Devin White. They have had similar careers to this point. I am posting this because the pundits think Queen would be so much better than White for the Packers. I disagree.

Both have identical body measurements. Height, weight, hand size, they even went to the same college. At the combine White ran 4.42, and Queen ran 4.5.

White 25, Queen 24 years old

White career stats- 524 Tackles(5 years) 3 INT 6 FF

Queen stats-454 Tackles(4 years) 6 INT 5 FF

White projected salary-$7 million per year Queen projected $18 million per year

If Queen is more coveted Than White as a FA, then I would be asking why didn't the Ravens exercise his 5th year option or sign him to another contract. That's odd don't you think? White didn't get another contract either and the reasons have been talked about. I see a similarity because of this.

These 2 FAs look identical in everything but the money they will get. I don't care what the moderator says, the Packers could hit a reasonable home run by signing White to a 4-year contract for $30 million dollars. He still has room to get even better. He needs a change of scenery.
