Not So Jolly

From Steve over at PackerGeeks regarding Johnny Jolly:

On occasion, he makes spectacular, almost balletic interceptions that would make even the most coordinated defensive back proud. But he also commits dumb penalties that suggest he’s either not paying attention to the game or he doesn’t care about the consequences of his actions. Could it be that there are no consequences?

It seems to me there are two possibilities here — and both should give great concern about the coaching. Either McCarthy (or Dom Capers) did no get in Jolly’s face after the penalty or they did and he doesn’t care. I’m not sure which is worse. If the coaches did not get after him for commiting a penalty that cost the Packers four points, they’re not doing their job. And if they did chew him out and he still said what he said to McGinn, they’re doing their job but not doing it effectively. Either way, there is a discipline problem.

As Jolly says, he plays like that every game.

Jolly's stupid (and I mean stupid) personal foul directly led to 7 points for the Vikings. Instead of 4th down - he gave the Vikings a 1st down. Clean up your act - it was a stupid, idiot and absolutely non called for.

Coaching is the reason for ALL the penaltys, lack of discipline. McCarthy and Capers need to go to the Vince Lombardi school of coaching and learn something from the master at it. They're just students of the coaching game.

Need to have a vet get in his ear and tell him what the deal is. But, there are precious few of those on this team unfortunately. So, in the alternative, make him run laps till he pukes.

Just like the consequences of not going to jail after being found with enough codine to supply a hospital. Maybe a little time in the big house would get his attention.

Every Packers fan probably has their own list of idiotic penalties in the last few seasons, but this is the worst penalty I have ever seen. Without this penalty, the Packers could have had the lead going into the last few minutes of the game. Is there any kind of disciplinary action the team could use on him, to make a point if not anythig else?

MM only holds you accountable if you are a safety. And your name isn't Collins or Bigby.

He was just getting in the dude's grill. The Vikes did the same thing to our WRs about three times that I saw and nothing was called. Basically another "reputation" penalty.
They bumped helmets. Big deal. They're HELMETS.
