NFL Training Camps: Garda visits the Giants

Well folks, it's finally here. Training camps are getting under way and that means football season is upon us.

I'll be spending the next week in East Rutherford New Jersey at the first week of New York Giants camp. There's a lot to cover here at the facility and this week I will be focusing on the impact of someone Packers fans are well acquianted with: Ben McAdoo, the brand new offensive coordinator.

McAdoo is installing a new offensive system for New York, one which will sare some similiarities with Green Bay's. The two teams have some of the same issues, chief of which is an offensive line that isn't always able to hold up due to injuries.

It got tougher on Monday as longtime guard Chris Snee decided to retire. After missing most of 2013 with an injury, Snee was just not healing as quickly as he'd hoped and finally decided to call it quits.

While the news didn't completely catch the team off guard, both head coach Tom Coughlin and quarterback Eli Manning expressed disappointment nonetheless.

Manning told us that he kept hoping it wasn't true and that Snee would get healthier. Coughlin talked about how you just don't easily replace a guy like Snee, one of the best offensive linemen the Giants have ever fielded.

Which brings us to the real issue here at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center - how much harder does losing the one reliable veteran lineman on the roster does this make McAdoo's job?

So that's what we'll be looking at this week, capping things off with a much deeper look at the new offense and McAdoo at the end of our time in camp.

I'll be back each day with some news on camp here as well as what I hear around the league and some hints about what you have to look forward to in our profile on McAdoo.

Until then, watch my Twitter feed to keep up to date.
