NFL, NFLPA Enter Into Settlement Talks

The Minnesota federal court cancels next week's scheduled mediation as the two sides continue to talk - sans lawyers.

The minnesota federal court has cancelled mediation set next week saying it is engaged in confidential settlement talks with the parties

This is excellent news.

Now, this is not a sign of the announcement of a deal being imminent. But it IS a sign that the two sides are doing a whole lot more talking and a whole lot less lawerying - which is exactly what needs to happen to GET to a deal.

This means that one side has leverage. Or at least that one side thinks the other side will have leverage.

Don't see any other reason for these talks.

But I welcome them with open arms!

I hope it's not about leverage and one side capitulating. If that is the case then we'll be right back to where we are right now in a few years. They need a fair deal. A deal in which neither side is left disgruntled or euphoric. A deal that both sides can deal with long term which maintains the integrity and dominance of the NFL in the sports world. The size of the slice is not more important then the size of the pie.

You're probably right & I agree but what you ask for is unrealistic ..... "Fair" is a matter of perspective & judgement .... In my eyes, as long as all 32 teams have equal footing on a level playing field, it's a fair deal .....
