Ndamukong Suh Reportedly Suspended Two Games

FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reports that the Lions have been informed that their star defensive tackle will be suspended.

From Jay Glazer:

Lions have been informed by league office that Ndamukong Suh has been suspended by Commissioner 2 games without pay.

Suh IS allowed to appeal and if he does there would likely be an expedited hearing before he misses this week's game.

Suh reportedly phone NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell earlier this week to apologize for his actions during the Thanksgiving game between the Lions and the Packers.

By all accounts, Suh has not reached out to Packers offensive lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith to offer an apology.

UPDATE: The league makes it official.

NFL Vice President of Football Operations Merton Hanks notified Ndamukong Suh today that he has been suspended without pay for the Lions’ next two games for his unsportsmanlike conduct in the Lions-Packers game on Thanksgiving Day. It was Suh’s fifth violation of on-field rules in the past two seasons that has resulted in league discipline. Suh may not practice or be at the team practice facility for any other activities during the two-game suspension. He will be reinstated on December 12. Under the CBA, the suspension may be appealed within three business days. If appealed, an expedited hearing and decision would take place this week in advance of this weekend’s games.

I don't really think two games is enough, but maybe it is all a bunch of hair splitting - 2 v. 3 v. 4. We'll see how he acts when he plays the Packers on New Years' Day. I don't wish anyone ill, but if he injures one of our guys before the playoffs, I hope that he gets it back double.

Suh's apology to the commissioner makes NO sense to me if it wasn't preceded by an apology to EDS. He should be suspended a third game for, as the kids might say, an apology fail.

I'm also dying to see if he appeals this thing, rendering his apology officially insincere.

...And then a 4th game for just sheer stupidlity base on his post game explaination about 'just trying to get off the guy'...insulting to one's intelligence...freakin' moron.

I am happy with the 2 games I think it is fair. What I would like to see is the League putting something in place that holds coaches more accountable. When you have a multiple offender on your team you are obviously not sending the right message. On top of that it is not just Suh it is coming from players on both sides of the ball on this Lions team.

Hey Cheeseheads.

I'm a huge Packers fan and fan of this site living in Louisville. I know it might be a tad presumptuous after the Brian Brohm debacle, but I'm participating in a contest and really need some support.

I'd really appreciate it if you could take a moment and vote for "Tim" at this website.

It has the chance to be somthing really lifechanging for a bluegrass cheesehead.

Thanks. Go Pack.

Oh, and Suh's suspension is bogus since anger management classes aren't part of it. I think a one game suspension with mandatory anger management would be even more appropriate/humbling for him.

Okay Mr. Red - you've got my vote.
Now if you would be so kind as to send me a million dollars, that would be equally life changing for me (extra large cheesehead grin).

Good Luck
Tom

I did this out of tribute to your one, Johnny Unitas...who signed photos for my brothers and me at his restaurant in Fla. in 1973.

According to PFT, the union is "asking" Suh to appeal the suspension, ostensibly to protect the rights of players who stomp people in the future.
Does that make ANY sense to anyone whatsoever? Because EDS is a player too. Shouldn't the position of the union be that they want to protect players from being stomped upon?
Like if somebody stomped on Suh, that person should be suspended too. Why is the union trying to protect the right of people to go outside the rules to injure members of that union?
Or maybe it's bullshit on the part of Suh, to not have to take responsibility for appealing.

Generally speaking, unions have a "duty of fair representation." This means when a member is disciplined by an employer that the union must provide some level of advocacy to the player being disciplined. Failure to do so can result in a lawsuit against the union by the player. So as a general matter, this is why unions represent jerks in workplaces; because they have to. Sometimes it is whole-hearted, sometimes it is with a very "read-between-the-lines" nod and a wink.

This sounds a little different. It may or may not be. You know my position about getting "facts" from the media. Assuming the story as you present it is correct, and assuming that a duty of fair representation is not coming into play here, I would say that the union is looking to minimize the power of the Commish to take its members out of the game as much as possible, but that it is a short-sighted approach that I do not agree with.

I think of it less as a rabbit hole and more like a sewer line. No illumination, lots of raw sewage and you can't leave the experience without a bad smell in your nose and awful taste in your mouth.

I was thinking more of wonderland, a world of nonsense and illusion where everyone talks in riddles, where door knobs and animals talk, and where quarterbacks with completion percentages below 40% are better than those with all-time high ones.

Two games seems fair, especially considering Nickelback was making noise not too long prior to the kick. Probably still pissed from having to possibly hear them back in the locker room

(I wish there were sarcasm tags on here, lol)

The dudes got some issues, along w/ his coach?
Didn't Shwartz, coach Hainesworth, who did the same awhile back?
At first I was rooting for the cats cuz they finally had a team, but now they are a bunch of D bags.

He did Haynesworth also was apologetic. But the difference is that Hanyesworth stomped on a face and got a 5 game suspension.
