Glad you have cooled down a bit from yesterday Aaron, I don't think us sitting on twitter, refreshing it every 30 seconds until 3 AM did ANY good haha.

I still wonder about not going that extra 2 mil in an uncapped year - but if move on it is, then move on it is.

Until Cliffy signs on the dotted lines with the Skins, then I'm not worried. I see it as a chess move by Clifton and his agent to scare us and get more money, which I think is ridiculous because we have been MORE than generous to Clifton over the years. When was the last time he had to practice in the offseason? Nam? I'm at the point where if Clifton wants to play for the Redskins instead of us just because of the money then SEE YA Chad. All losing Clifton is going to do is make Ted more aggressive in his search for a LT because we all know that he is no dummy and he's not just going to completely ignore our most glaring and obvious need.

It was my understanding that Clifton was seeking a 3 year deal with 10 million guaranteed. So that 2 million is more like 5 million, twice what TT was willing to spend on a 33 year old injury prone left tackle for one year even if its uncapped.

dillgaf - last night, reports were Pack was offering 5 mil per, Clifton wanted 7. 7 is steep, but, again, in an uncapped year, what's 2 mil for a little bit of reassurance on Rodgers' blindside?

Question about the cap: is it gone for good? If one is in the new CBA when it ever gets agreed to, are teams who splurged this year going to be forced to slash payroll to get back under it?

hyper - it is not gone for good, but it's on life support. And a lot of the question you are asking will be answered in negotiations, but yes, that's why you see a lot of teams saying they will operate AS THOUGH there is a cap.

I agree don't panic, but it is a little disconcerting watching Kampman leave Green Bay and the bears sign Peppers. It just doesn't feel right.

Thank you for this, Aaron. Couldn't have said any better. Lots of crazyness out there with the bears, or Redskins of the north, as I call them... I'll tell people to watch it and chill...

Did I call that or what Aaron?(Clifton using WASH to drive our price up).

Where are my kudos? How about a shout out in your next "my ugly mug"? Haha.

Re: People panicking. Are there REALLY people that upset? This is Thompson's SIXTH free agency period with the Packers, do people seriously not understand yet how he operates? If he signs a free agent, it's not gonna come in the first wave of signings, cap or no cap. Thompson is smart enough to know that free agents are usually either overpriced or let go for a reason, and the key is to find the guys that have reasons that aren't going to come back to bite you. It's called VALUE, and it's something that the front office has been EXCELLENT at gauging.

I actually like that our GM doesn't get goofy on the first day of free agency. A lot of over hype and over pay. It reminds me of the kids in high school who didn't study all year and try and make up for it on the day of the test. I think TT does a good job of looking at all aspects of the off-season and not rushing out and doing something just to do something.

I do prefer that we have a good LT though. After how bad the o-line was last year, I'd hate see it happen again. I'm sure there is a plan.

Joey Porter is finally free. Let's hope there isn't a huge market for him.

What's the rule with compensation picks? Will we get any if we lose Kampman, Clifton or Tausch??

lmills - yes, in 2011. None will be higher than a 5th round pick because they are all over 30 years old.

This is why you don’t participate on the front-end of free agency:

•Chester Taylor – 31 before the season starts, $7 million guaranteed
•Julius Peppers – 5 months shy of his 31st birthday when the season starts, $40 million first 3 years
•Nate Burleson – 29 before season starts, $11 million guaranteed
•Kyle Vanden Bosch – 32 in season, $10 million guaranteed
•Corey Williams – 20 before season starts, final year of a $36 million contract

The guaranteed money is a joke. Peppers, Burleson and Williams are lazy. Taylor is an older clone of an already existing Forte in Martz offense.
Sorry, but this is ridiculous.

Kyle Vandenbosch and Corey Williams to the Lions. This is getting interesting.

I can't for the life of me understand the Detroit Lions plan. It's almost like that South Park episode with the underpants knomes:

Unerpants = ? = Big Business

Lions: Signing old guys to big guarantees while your team is at least 3 years away from the playoffs = ? = Super Bowl.

Why are they signing and guarateeing elder Burleson, Vanden Bosch and Williams to so much money while needing to focus on draft youth on the roster? These guys are contributing towards, well.....nothing.....

Whoa. Boldin (plus a 5th) for a 3rd and 4th rounder? That strikes me as a great deal for the Ravens.

No worries here, Allen Barbre is in a great off season program and Justin Harrel did a back flip last week and the Titans have stopped going after Jared Bush.
All is well in Packer Land.
