Much More Troublesome...

...than the prospect of Favre playing in another team's uniform is this post from Brats and Beer Guy cluing us into the fact that the Miller Brewing Company no longer exists, and is now called MillerCoors. Are you freekin' kidding me? Miller and Coors? As B&BG puts it perfectly:

What sad times we live in that Miller, and with it my favorite Leinenkugels, is now part of that abomination known as Coors.

I can only offer solace here.

Small solace at that: Pabst, headquartered now in Illinois, is made under contract by ... ack! ... MillerCoors!

But there is solace in this: Pabst, which through series of consolidations in 1990's owns the Schlitz brand, has reintroduced the 1960 formula that made Schlitz the number 1, for a while, and consistently number 2 best selling beer in America. I have tried the new/old Schlitz and it is wonderful. Just plain old fashioned good.

Check it out here: http://www.schlitzgusto.com/formula.asp

But be careful, the same crappy beer that drove Schlitz into the ground is still being put into the cans. (I have no idea why – I guess they have a certain market share that they capture with that crap). I new/old Schlitz is in the bottles.

So let’s review: bottled Schlitz = fantastic; canned Schlitz = crap that destroyed a brewing empire.
