Moss Talks About The Packers

This is extremely illuminating.

If Randy Moss is to be believed, Ted Thompson made it abundantly clear when he was courting Moss this past off season that Donald Driver was to be the number one wide receiver on the Green Bay Packers if Moss ended up joining the team. Um, what? I understand talking about the team, and wanting Moss to buy into the Packers' program, but to sit on the phone and tell one of the most athletically gifted wide receivers ever to play the game that if he was traded to the Packers he was going to play number two to Donald Driver is ludicrous. Just inane. Anyone with a modicum of football intelligence can tell you that Moss is a number one, and in that scenario Driver would be the best number two in the league (save, perhaps, for Houshmandzadeh). Moss knew this too, which is why he, supposedly, hung up the phone on Thompson.

I think TT is going to get some unfair criticism for this. Don't you think that the 30 GMs who didn't even consider trading for Moss should also be criticized? Yes, if Green Bay had tried harder or not emphasized the points in this post during that phone call, we might be in the Super Bowl right now. Then again, so might the Jacksonville Jaguars, who clearly need a #1 reciever, if they had pursued Moss. Or what about the Chargers?

I hear you Andrew. And as I've gone round and round with Corey about, I'm glad Ted set his price and stuck to it. It's just shocking to hear that he was telling Moss that Driver was the undisputed number one, even if Moss joined the team. That just seems dumb on so many levels.
