Whether throwing the challenge flag or calling Kuhn's number on a slow developing run on 3rd and goal, MM leaves you scratching your head sometimes. The latter may have been one of the oddest plays of the year. I don't recall ever seeing that play. And hope I never again will. Awful design. Awful execution. Black it out in the play-book. Deserved of Mike's worst this week.

On a side note, mind blowing that Slocum still has a job. Another bad day for Special Teams. Our Special Teams unit is seriously horrendous and has been in in recent memory. Masthay, the one consistent performer, has been horrendous as of late. After a promising start, Crosby scares the hell out of me. DuJuan Harris.....is best when he just lets the ball sail out of the end zone. Constant penalty's. Bad blocking. Can someone explain to me how every other kicker in the NFL not named Mason Crosby can boot the ball out of the back of the end zone on a regular basis. Is it a strategy to potentially force a fumble on the return?

I think one of these things is going on here:

1. Mike and Shawn are really close so he has a long leash.
2. Mike doesn't think that firing Slocum right now will significantly improve the Special Teams, and may just make things worse.

I lean toward the latter.

I get the whole friend thing and the interest in not changing things up mid season, but our poor Special Teams play is not limited to this year and it's hard to imagine it being any worse. How about firing him before the season even starts? We're the only football team in the NFL that have fans who breath a sigh of relief after extra points.
