Mike McCarthy Press Conference: Jarrett Boykin Injured in Practice

The Packers wide receiver was added to the team's injury report with a groin issue.

Select comments from Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarhy's press conference on Friday:

On Jarrett Boykin's knee and groin injury: We've played three games, Jarrett was injured yesterday. We'll give him to Sunday to see if he can go.

On Boykin looking to get on track: I think we all are. When you get that first catch, at certain times in my career, certain receivers have needed it more than others. … I don't think Jarrett needs that at all. He plays special teams.

On Clay Matthew's groin injury: So far, so good. The medical report was good on Clay. We still have 48 hours.

On Julius Peppers facing his former team: Julius Peppers is the ultimate pro. He's far enough down the line in his career. Clearly he has relationships inChicago. He's invested into our football team.

On the Packers' four-man rush: I like the pressure of the four-man rush. You look at particular situations when you can rush four.

On Morgan Burnett: Morgan's off to a good start. He's clearly one of our veterans back there. He's one of the quarterback's off the defense, part of the communication.

On Richard Rodgers' blocking: I'm very confident in all of our tight ends and what we has them to do. Richard's young and getting better each week. … What we ask him to do, he's getting better all the time.

On Jamari Lattimore: Jamari is very comfortable in there. He's definitey a playmaker, his ability to run and hit. I like his attitude; I like his energy.

On his theory if a player can lose his job to injury: Theory, principals, all those things are part of your approach each an every season. You have to look at situations. ... I don't believe in absolutes.

If Janis is active, will he return kick offs? I hope so.

I'd be surprised - maybe later in the game, depending how things are going.

If Janis is active. I honestly don't expect him to play a lot, unless when he comes in he makes some big plays.

I think they will use more 2 TE sets if Boykin can't play. Which maybe they start using Bostick in this game. He is a really good pass catching TE, so maybe they start using him more.

Boykin has been terrible so far. Janis can't do any worse.

R. Rodgers getting better, does everything we ask him to do = standard coach speak (unless he is trashing Lacy). Rodgers' -3.9 run grade from PFF over the first three games is part of the running problem. Note that GB couldn't run even when the box was not stacked. I hope R. Rodgers get better soon. Otherwise, when Bostick is healthy, I expect to see Quarless as the blocking TE and Bostick as the receiving threat, and not to see much of R. Rodgers.
