This is great. I’m fired up.

It will be a pleasure watching all the other teams in the Norris crowing about how they slayed the draft. Draft banners will be raised. We will go about our business and win championships with our guys.

We satisfied the prime directive of protecting the QB with the first pick.
Edgerrin Cooper at #41 was pretty predictable.

We have a bunch of rookie Safeties now. It'll be interested to see who makes the active roster. It still looks like McKinney and a bunch of question marks. It kind of reminds me of when Gutekunst drafted Moore, EQ, MVS, and signed Kumerov and Lazard, all in a quest to find ONE guy who could pair with (Adams, then, and McKinney, now) a solid player. All these safeties are going to be in competition with each other to stay healthy, practice well, and produce on the field. You'd assume Bullard would rise to the top, but we'll see.

Hopper was because we actually need to be able to dress out 5 LBs, and we only had two that are worth dressing out. Much like the safety spot, we needed bodies. Hopefully, Cooper and Hopper will both stay healthy and play well, but the odds say they'll both have rookie struggles.

I'm a little unhappy that we waited so long to address the OL after we got off to such a good start. In two years, most of our Oline will be FAs or already gone, and the guys we took this weekend are going to be the core of the group that protects Love for the next four years. I like our starters and maybe the football gods will keep them on the field this year.

Lloyd should not have been a surprise. One of the fastest and strongest RBs in the draft, he has low mileage and fits very well with what the Packers want from their RBs.......other than he's going to have to hang onto the rock or they won't give it to him. That's what is going to make or break this guy. The very first time he coughs it up, that's going to be mentioned. The second time, it'll be a pattern. I am assuming the Packers coaches have looked at these fumbles and think they can improve his carriage and improve his ball security.

It'll be interesting to see how many of these guys actually survive training camp and make the 53, and how many end up on the practice squad.

A few interesting points on this Packer draft that will NOT be surprising to many:
*Once again, early picks are SEC and West Coast guys. Packers definitely trust these scouts. It was not until the 5th round selection of Monk did they go outside of those two areas.
* Packer meetings at post-season events again drove the draft.
* Senior Bowl guys predominate their draft selections, again!
* Despite the multiple Packer scouts reported at the Michigan/Ohio State game, the Packers selected zero in the draft.
* No Iowa or Northwestern guys this year, but a Penn State player is picked late again.
* For all of the meetings and interest in the Florida State secondary, the Packers did not gain one player from this school, or for that matter, Pitt whom they also demonstrated interest in.

Overall I like the draft class. Oladapo and Cooper were probably my favorite picks, Hopper and Williams my least favorite. My prediction for what the starting secondary will be year is Jaire and Valentine on the outside, Bullard in the slot, Oladapo in the box and McKinney as the post

Picking a QB late looks even wiser after the Commanders signed undrafted QB Sam Hartman on a $245,000 guarantee.

The Pack got a grade of B from the analyst. The worst pick was the linebacker because he didn't play traditional linebacker in college and may have a tough adjustment period trying to go down hill. and plahying in the box. They liked the first pick Morgan a lot and think he could be a solid starter.

My main quibble is with the Lloyd selection.

RB is simply not neeeded.

RB are not drafted and developed, they are plug and play.

The time to pick a RB is when you need one, not before, especially when you have other much more pressing needs and talented players to add to the mix.

RB is a low value, instant gratification selection in todays NFL.

We signed Jacobs and brought Dillon back along with a promising Wilson. A couple of UDFA's would have sufficed to bring in a 4th string PS insurance policy.

Next year or the year after would have supplied plenty of Lloyds if we needed them then.

Not the wisest move ever.
