McCarthy Says Rodgers' Injury Impacted Playcalling in Bucs Game

Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy appeared on SiriusXM's NFL Radio on Tuesday instead of his usual Thursday because of the Christmas holiday.

As part of his interview, McCarthy said his playcalling was impacted by quarterback Aaron Rodgers' calf strain over concern about his availability the following Sunday for the all-important match-up with the Detroit Lions for the NFC North division title.

"What Aaron was dealing with, because it happened right away, it happened the first or second series in the game, so I was obviously concerned about it," said McCarthy. "And frankly, what it comes down to is just practice what you preach. I was concerned about the following week and the risk that we were dealing with moving forward.

"Just a lot of conversation, getting in and out of some plays. There's always a couple calls you wish you had back, but the offense was very productive. You would have liked to have scored some more points."
