The Packers three kicker competition appeared to not last very long, as the Packers cut Georgio Tavecchio Monday morning. That left newly signed Rookie Zach Ramirez to battle with Mason Crosby.
However, despite releasing him, Mike McCarthy said the following about Tavecchio is the post practice press conference.
MM on Giorgio Tavecchio: There is a scenario in which we could bring him back. — Brian Carriveau (@BrianCarriveau) August 26, 2013
Since he was released, Tavecchio would have to clear waivers before the Packers could hope to re-sign him if that ends up being their plan.
This gets more interesting by the day, just cut crossbuck and get it over with this is killing me.
Jesus. The kicking situation is such a cluster.
No way this this a cluster buckster. The new guy is the leader in the derby right now. Big guy, strong leg and cheaper, Crosby is not leading because of his big leg anymore. If Ramirez kicks equal he wins.
The new guy only has a few days to prove himself. If Cros can hold his own, like Harrell, they will keep him.
Maybe they can talk Longwell out of retirement. lol
