McCarthy: Class Act
By PackerAaron
Tucked away at the end of a "Notebook" over at Packersnews.com is a brief mention of McCarthy's travels during the teams bye week. The following tells you all you need to know about what kind of coach, not to mention man, Mike McCarthy is.
McCarthy said he also spent time with his daughter in Austin, Texas, and went to Houston to be with practice-squad receiver Chris Francies, whose father died last week.
The man went to visit one of his players on his own time. A PRACTICE SQUAD player. I don't think people realize how rare this is for an NFL Head Coach. (Sherman was horrible at the end of his tenure, not even acknowledging people as he strode down the hall.) For all his faults, McCarthy is a stand up guy and exactly the kind of man Packer fans should want leading the team. And Ted Thompson should be commended for seeing what no one else saw when he interviewed him.
