Mark Murphy Confirms Conversations with Brett Favre

Last week, former Packers quarterback Brett Favre acknowledged for the first time publicly that he has talked with Packers president Mark Murphy "on numerous occasions" during a radio interview in Buffalo, N.Y. on WGR 550 AM.

This week, Murphy confirmed those conversations with Favre during an interview of his own published in the Door County Advocate following an appearance at a golf outing Tuesday at Horseshoe Bay Golf Club in Egg Harbor.

“We’ve been in touch with each other kind of back and forth for a while,” Murphy is quoted as saying by reporter Korey Mallien. “I think time has healed the wounds or will heal the wounds. We want to have him back in the fold, and I think that would mean a lot to our fans, to our organization and to him.”

Murphy would go onto say it's a matter of when, not if Favre's number would be retired by the Packers.

I know the hate birds out there, what he did was go to the purple group. I know I know he would have rather have stayed in Green Bay but that was not to be. We had a long long drought and where he got us to the Super Bowl was great, for that I am very thankful for.

I'm still waiting for Brett's apology to the fans. What happened between Brett, Thompson & McCarthy had nothing to do with Packer fans. Brett has never made that distinction & recognized the people that supported him unconditionally for so many years.

I've been saying for years that Favre needs to publicly apologize to Thompson, McCarthy, the Packer organization AND the fans!
