Jason Taylor…A Packer?

Don’t you just love the first day of free-agency? I’ve read more ridiculousness in the last three hours than I had the last three months.
My favorite rumor making the rounds between Packer fans is that the Packers and Dolphins are working on a deal to send Jason Taylor to the Packers, supposedly for the Packers’ second and fourth round picks. And while this makes perfect sense, especially now that the Packers have an extra second round pick, it doesn’t seem to fit with Thompson’s ultra-conservative M.O. However, there’s a big difference between building a 4-12 team into a contender and then taking that contender over the top. Stay tuned…
UPDATE: Actually, looking at the terms of the Jets deal for Kris Jenkins (a third and a fifth), a second and a fourth for Taylor sounds like it’s in line with how the market is lining up for all the defensive linemen that will be moving in the next couple of days. Again, it hasn’t been in Ted’s nature to give up picks, but he’s never been an Overtime interception away from the Super Bowl before…
UPDATE 2: Hmmm…

A 2nd and a 4th? Ted will never do it …
And then we trade KGB for some magik beans, climb the beanstalk and steal the giant’s gold. Oh wonderful gold.
KGB is getting older and doesnt play every down. He usually comes in a 3rd and long cause he cant play the run. Jason Taylor is 33 but is way more athletic and could possibly drop back as a LB, like an Adalious Thomas has. If he went to the pack it would be a major upgrade.
I think Ted Thompson has done much worse than trading the picks for Taylor. I think it would be a good buy for the packers. BratsNBeer is right, KGB is getting old. He’s not 100% and he hasn’t been for a while. I would welcome Taylor.
If we could pick up Taylor and Moss we would have one of the best off seasons in franchise history. I say make the trade for Taylor and grab Moss while he is still out there. It will drastically improve our team on both sides of the ball.
[...] Buried over at Pro Football Weekly’s latest ‘The Way We Hear It’, is the contention from one Dolphin ‘team insider’ that Bill Parcell’s recent declaration that there was zero truth to the rumors that Taylor would be traded this off season is a complete fabrication. It’s interesting to note that they mention that Taylor might be traded for two picks, namely a 2nd and 4th round pick, which is exactly what we had heard rumored earlier. [...]
[...] Jason Taylor..a Packer? – I think it’s fitting that the most trafficked story was a Rumor. Isn’t that what Blogs do best? [...]
