After Greg Jennings signed with the Minnesota Vikings in the offseason, there’s been a well-documented back and forth between the wide receiver and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Rodgers threw the first barb when during the Wisconsin Sports Awards ceremony, Rodgers playfully responded “Who?” when asked a question about Jennings.
In several interviews since that time, Jennings has also jokingly declined to call Rodgers by name, instead referring to a vague “the quarterback” instead.
During an interview on ESPN on Tuesday, Jennings called Rodgers by name, but reading into his comments, one can infer that the back-and-forth banter between Jennings and Rodgers has an edge to it.
As summed up by NFC North blogger Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com:
(Jennings) also somewhat cryptically said that “you get respect when you give respect” when asked why he apparently thinks more of Favre than Rodgers. The video is worth your time.
The interview in its entirety can be viewed here:
Packers fans, as based upon responses to my Twitter account, are asking whether any hurt feelings between the two stems from Rodgers not vouching for Jennings like he has other players on the Packers roster. A sampling:
@BrianCarriveau Did Rodgers ever vouch for Jennings like he did for Jones a couple years ago?

@BrianCarriveau going out on the limb and say its the non vouching thing that irked him along with the constant praise of his successor Cobb

@BrianCarriveau Agree. Seems like GJ wanted to be the next DD & is pissed that AR didn’t go to bat for him. But who the hell knows for sure?

@BrianCarriveau Did he go to bat for Jennings privately/publicly during negotiations?

The next step in the soap opera appears headed toward the moment when Jennings is bluntly asked whether he felt disrespected by Rodgers.
Observers might also point out the critical comments of Rodgers by Jennings’ sister on social media last season as a sign that a beef existed between the two before Jennings left Green Bay as a free agent.
