Lambeau Field to Host Epic Brat Battle on Sunday

Johnsonville Brats and Delaware North Sportservice are teaming up on September 13 to create the longest grilled brat ever.

Delaware North runs the concessions at Lambeau field and on the 13th, approximately 150 people are expected to carry and cook the 120 yard brat outside of Lambeau Field.

The brat required a custom-made grill, and assembly of it will begin on Friday in the Lambeau Field parking lot. It will take about 220 bags of charcoal to grill the 225 pounds of Johnsonville Brat.

The Brat is expected to serve about 750 people.

Per their press release, Heath Barbato the Executive Chef at Delaware North said,

“There’s no better way to kick off football and tailgate season – especially in Wisconsin – than with a giant Johnsonville brat. When we originally talked to Johnsonville about the idea of creating a brat the length of a football field in recognition of our centennial celebration, they upped the ante by offering to make it that length – plus both end zones.”

For more information, and a behind the scenes look at the making of the brat, check out Johnsville's website.

Well, Jayme, you made my son happy. I read this article right before I went grocery shopping Saturday and bought a couple of pounds of brats, something I don't buy often. They were delicious! But I wish I'd paid more attention to my wife's recipe (I've tried various recipes from the internet) - she probably put something in that I don't like so I wouldn't realize it.
