Khyri Thornton to Join Davante Adams at NFLPA Rookie Premiere

The rookie defensive lineman has been invited to the annual event that takes place in Los Angeles this weekend.

Since our report last week that wide receiver Davante Adams would take part in the NFLPA's Rookie Premiere, defensive lineman Khyri Thornton has been added to the lineup as well, the league's Players Association announced on Tuesday.

The downside to the event is that both Adams and Thornton will miss some practice time this week as Rookie Premiere takes places May 29-31 coinciding with the Packers' OTAs on Thursday and Friday, although it's not as if the players aren't learning something.

The union’s annual orientation includes seminars focused on financial planning, brand building, group player rights, and social media best practices. Among the featured guest speakers are former and active NFL players Marshall Faulk, Willie McGinest, Torry Holt, Brandon Williams, Daunte Culpepper, Kevin Bentley, Jamaal Charles, Israel Idonije, and Austin Pettis. Additional speakers include NFLPA Executive Director DeMaurice Smith and NFLPI President Keith Gordon.

Last year, running backs Eddie Lacy and Johnathan Franklin took part in the annual event.

Thornton is one of just a handful of the 40 players invited that doesn't play at a skill position, which seem to pair well with the marketing efforts behind the event. However, the rookie defensive lineman was one of five players invited that took part in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, which sponsors the Rookie Premiere.
