Jury Still Out On Jenkins, Zombo

In other injury news, Atari Bigby and Korey Hall have already been ruled out for next Sunday's game.

In his day-after press conference, head coach Mike McCarthy couldn't shed much more light on the status of defensive lineman Cullen Jenkins and outside linebacker Frank Zombo than previously known.

"Cullen Jenkins, just meeting with the medical staff, we really don’t have a pulse on his situation," said McCarthy. "I was hopeful that he would be back this week. We’re probably going to need the rest of the week to make a determination on his status, so I’m not sure. They couldn’t give me any specifics."

Jenkins has been held out of action since the Packers win over San Francisco in Week 13, sitting out the past three games. The Packers could use his services in next week's game against the Chicago Bears, which would lock up a playoff berth with a win.

Zombo has been in nearly the same boat missing the past two games, not having played since Week 14 at Detroit. It's been pretty much a revolving door at the outside linebacker position opposite Clay Matthews with five different players getting starts.

Brad Jones, Brady Poppinga, Zombo, Erik Walden and Robert Francois have all started games at outside linebacker. Among them, Zombo has seen the most playing time this season.

"Frank Zombo, we’ll take the same approach as we did last week," said McCarthy. "He’ll be with the rehab group throughout the week and then Friday morning after his medical examination with Dr. McKenzie, we’ll give him a chance Friday like we did last week. He had a setback on the field last week on Friday, and so we’re going to take the same approach."

In other injury news, McCarthy already ruled out Atari Bigby and Korey Hall for Sunday's game against the Bears.

Hall has a knee sprain and Bigby has a groin strain. Bigby's injury leaves the team slightly thin at the safety position, but that's something the Packers have gotten used to this season. Nick Collins and Charlie Peprah will more than likely start with Jarrett Bush backing them up.

I remember Walden involved in one tackle, but not much more. Does anybody remember how he fared in the Giants game

He was flying around, dreadlocks in his wake. Didn't seem like too much of a liablity, all things considered.

He was pretty pedestrian. He kept trying to fly around the edge on his pass rush and kept taking himself out of the play. But he held his own against the run. Just a body that they are throwing out there. He was credited with two tackles for the game.

I noticed Francois holding the edge pretty decent on running plays.

"No pulse on his situation." I hope it's 50 years before they say that about me.

Atari may be made of rolling paper, but he WAS flying around out there. With collins' rib injury this will be a felt loss. He ws playing pretty well,
