Jermichael Finley Needs To Grow Up
By Aaron Nagler on Nov 03, 2008 with 3 Comments
The knock on rookie tight end Jermichael Finley coming out of college was that he was green as grass, and after seeing his reaction to his first extensive action from scrimmage, one might say he still has a thing or two to learn.
Regarding the 1st quarter 4th down ball from Rodgers that Finley couldn’t reel in:
I’ve made plays like that in practice – several…I think he should have led me a little more. Well, a lot more. Really he didn’t throw it good at all, to be honest. I just think…He knows my game, coaches know my game. I’m more like a run and jump. I’m really not no back shoulder or whatever he had going on back there. They just have to know what kind of player I am and use me in that aspect of the game.

What a loser.
holy crap. i didn’t even get to watch the whole game, and i saw 2 balls that an nfl player should have caught – one to move the chains in a big spot, one for 6 points. he couldn’t hold on to either of them, and now he’s blaming the quarterback?
competent receivers/tight ends miss the first one, and make sure that they get the next one – the fade in the endzone. after comments like that, if this guy isn’t a stellar blocker, or a special teams stud, i would flat out cut him. he isn’t there when his team needs him, and he jaws and blames afterward. i know that’s an emotional response, but damnit, what an f-ing tool.
if any other team needs a player that can catch one kind of ball, i think it’s time to let finley know that he’s ‘not no packer no more, or whatever he thought he had going on back here.’
[...] in particular, appears to be very raw and, given his comments yesterday, quite immature. The tight end position has been perhaps the biggest disappointment this season. [...]
