Injury Update at Packers Training Camp: Who's Returning? Who's Dropping Out?

Rookie wide receiver Davante Adams returned to practice on Wednesday.

It was the final training camp practice open to the public for the week on Wednesday as the Packers got ready to face the Rams in St. Louis for preseason game No. 2.

Who's Returning?

Wide receiver Davante Adams, wrist

The second round draft pick reportedly hurt his wrist while trying to recover his own fumble on his second muffed punt return attempt in the Packers' first preseason game this past Saturday. Adams didn't practice either Monday or Tuesday, but head coach Mike McCarthy acknowledged it was not a long-term injury. Adams looks as if he'll be ready to play in the team's second preseason game, but whether that includes any more punt return opportunities remains to be seen.

Who's Dropping Out?

Linebacker Brad Jones, dental work

The starting inside linebacker for the Packers sat out of Wednesday's practice after having some dental work done, according to McCarthy, all but assuring Jones won't be missing for long. In the short-term at least, Jones' absence opened the door for Jamari Lattimore, who worked in Jones' place with the first-string defense. Lattimore made his presence felt by getting into a scuffle with offensive lineman Josh Sitton.

Cornerback Ryan White, ankle

The undrafted rookie dropped out of practice, according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. White was observed with his shoe off and an ice bag around his ankle. McCarthy did not address White's injury in the immediate aftermath of practice, leaving some room for speculation as to the severity.

Still Out (anticipated return in parentheses)

Wide receiver Jared Abbrederis, knee (2015 presumably)

Offensive lineman Don Barclay, knee (2015 presumably)

Defensive lineman Jerel Worthy, lower back (indefinitely)

Defensive lineman Letroy Guion, hamstring (indefinitely)

Tight end Colt Lyerla, knee (several weeks)

Running back Rajion Neal, knee (day to day)

Linebacker Joe Thomas, knee (day to day)

I don't know if I'd call two season ending ACL tears as "pretty quiet". Granted they were to a bubble guy and a valuable back-up verses guys considered starters, but if you mean avoiding big season ending injuries to our biggest star players by implying "quiet" then yes and *knock on wood*

McCarthy did not go into specifics during his press conference.

I like that Adams is jumping back in quickly. Maybe he's got some toughness to him. Hope he's a fast learner, as he'll likely be the next man up if a starter goes down. Also would expect Guion to go on IR, and get back in it come late October.
