As USA Today noted in their recap of the Lions game, I was struck while watching Thursday how the Packers seemed to have a young replacement come in and play when one of their starters went down, and never really felt a huge drop off in performance. Whether it was Michael Montgomery and Jason Hunter filling in for KGB, or Tramon Williams and Frank Walker coming in for Charles Woodson (add in the fact that the dime defense made its first appearance all season, and it makes it even more impressive) the Packers seemed to have the kind of depth that could cover them for a deep playoff run. Not only is this a credit to Ted Thompson, who is proving to be one the shrewdest talent evaluators in the league, but it is a major feather in the caps of Mike McCarthy and his staff. To be putting in third and fourth team guys, and to have them playing assignment sure, is quite impressive.
