He does start off a little slow, but he looks like he’s been starting for years. He doesn’t panic, EVER. It’s remarkable. He calmly gets out of the pocket, find room and runs, or throws it away, or finds an open guy. It’s amazing.

Well as far just stats go. He is crazy good. He’s got a good chance of breaking the Packers single season passing yards record. He is gonna toss 30 touchdowns and maybe not even 10 picks. He has also shed that can’t come back and win games tag. He came back in week 1 to win it and last night he put his team ahead with 2 minutes left. He is a pro bowl QB. Best in the division by far. Maybe not as good as Culpepper, but he’s close.

The guy is a keeper. I also would love to see him start both halves like he ends them.

How would Packer fans react if McCarthy tried to take Rodgers out of a game which were only leading 7-6 in the 4th qtr? I’d be pissed. Especially considering they are fighting for home field advantage. I would WANT Rodgers to tell McCarthy to get lost in that situation.

IronMan said in December 21st, 2009 at 12:41 pm

That’s the point IronMan. Childress is an embarassment to real coaches around the league. Noone would do that. That’s why it’s perfect that Favre got his contract extended.

NickGBP said in December 21st, 2009 at 12:48 pm

Well some people were bashing Favre for not wanting to come out of the game.

IronMan said in December 21st, 2009 at 12:51 pm

I’m really tired of seeing the guy get all sorts of late hits on him, or darn-near late hits on him, and getting no calls from the refs. That shit pisses me off. No one can ever question his toughness, because he’s taken some hellacious shots but still manages to get up.

bigfog said in December 21st, 2009 at 12:56 pm

You have to hand it to Aaron Rodgers and the offense. He mounted a great 4th quarter comeback after being down 10 points and also losing a lead.

Mike Tomlin even feared him as you can tell by the way he explained the onside kick.

How good is Aaron Rodgers – Really darn good. Almost good enough to overcome Mason Crosby’s badness… :)

Bearmeat said in December 21st, 2009 at 1:28 pm

A-Rod’s third down efficiency is sick. The guy is simply a monster on 3rd down. Other than Montana/Young, I’m having a hard time thinking of another great QB that followed a HOFer like has happened with GB. Granted the HOFer in this case is a douchebag but I digress. We are very lucky as fans to have A-Rod and be in a position of such a long run with stellar QB play

Will he be an elite QB like Manning or Favre? That question will be answered over the next 5 years. But, right now he is good enough to take a good team to the Superbowl. That is all that really matters. That piece of the puzzle has been filled and TT deserves some real props for that draft pick. But, it is up to TT and MM to fill in the other puzzle pieces: o-line, depth on defense, and better special teams.

His Accuracy is amazing. I liked when no one was open in the Ravens game, he threw the ball out of bounds dead center of the Yardage marker post on the sidelines. Sounded like a football hitting a stop sign.

Aaron has all the potential for becoming an ‘all time’ great QB like a Favre, Manning, Breese, etc., He just has to survive the ‘all time’ part and not get killed by the pass rush! Despite the losing season last year he has finished very strong this season and is a bright spot for the team — and it looks like we will get to see what he can do in the playoffs (another, new level of play).
*
I don’t believe there is a need to compare him to a Manning or Favre – kind of seems immature this early – Aaron has yet to play in his first playoff game -(and they have again led their teams to Division wins, sustained good seasonal passing records and were being toyed as picks for MVP – and that’s just this year, etc.,).
*
But I am anxious to see what Aaron can do in the playoffs, particularly, if he can get the support from the Oline, a running game and consistent play on the D-side…(of course that’s a TT/MM problem). Barring those he should hold his own just fine.
*
(Expect Favre to sit some now that the Division is clinched…particularly if he is getting hammered like last night!)

how good is a-rod? shit nagler he’s from cali…he’s hella-goood haha!

alfredomartinez said in December 21st, 2009 at 3:34 pm

Favre clinched the Division, nothing else. They need a Win + Philly to lose one to get a first round bye. They also need the Saints to lose Two to get homefield advantage. Favre isn’t gonna sit anytime soon.

No call on the defender leading with helmet .Also never question the kids toughness.

Bring back Brett (I just had to do it).Favre was great last night .Oh the memories

Not many quarterbacks could pass for literally an entire game without stopping. Aaron is great.

Valid point. Until Vikes get at least the first round buy Favre will probably play … but not sure how many abusive hits like last night they will be willing for him to take… playoff wins are the most important now… tough to manage without your starter! Hard to believe he can still take the hits!

Rodgers doesn’t remind me of Favre or Manning. He reminds me of Steve Young. His mobility is amazing. I’ll put myself out there and say I think he’s going to be one of the greats. If we ever get the offensive line fixed, we are going to see him work true and beautiful magic. Look at what he does now. If we ever get the line fixed, Sundays are going to be magic again. The Kid rocks.

Cuphound said in December 21st, 2009 at 6:58 pm

If Lord Favre wasn’t bagging off the last 10 years, Packers fans would be on a sweet 30 year run of QB domination. Rodgers reminds me of Steve Young also. He seems really poised on the field until he runs one in for a TD, then he turns into a kid.

fish said in December 21st, 2009 at 7:31 pm

Rodgers consistancy and rythym would be even more amazing if his ALL WORLD RECIEVERS WOULD STOP DROPPING BALLS. Press Gazette unoficially counted 7 drops. Far too many for week 14.

The Cardinal game is at 4:15.The Dallas/Eagle and Giant/Queens game is at 1 est.We might know if we are in before the game starts. The ironey is that we might have to root for 4# one more time to beat the Giants. If the Eagles beat the Broncos (most likely) then the Queens will need to beat the G-men for the bye.

ctSharpeCheddar said in December 21st, 2009 at 10:30 pm

Greenbaypackerbob: I know. That’s pretty pathetic, but then about one third of those yards were solely the fault of Bush, so they shouldn’t count ;) . Either way, there were two great QBs playing in that game lat night. Which was probably why it was a four hour game. Clock stopped on lots of incs.

PACKERS. said in December 21st, 2009 at 11:20 pm

Comparing Rodgers to Young makes me a bit uneasy… Young’s career ended due to a number of concussion he experienced…
———–
The way Rodgers has gone down this season (most in NFL) makes me want to look for another comparison … thank goodness for the rule change that has given the QB more protection below the knees and helmet to helmet…!

Aaron, I’m glad that you recognized the LIGHTS OUT game that Rodgers had! I think it’s without question that he is a Top-5 QB in the league today, and I think by the end of next year, he’ll be Top-3!!

PackersThad said in December 22nd, 2009 at 2:19 am

I think Aaron is doing an amazing job, considering how much pounding he’s taking. I was afraid he’d pull his hammy going to the fridge for a PBR (and face it, so did many of you). He’s one tough kid.

However, he looked rattled part of the game against Pittsburgh, more so than I’ve seen him in worse situations. He played well, but he looked unsettled at times.

And I laughed my ass off at the whole Brent controversy yesterday. The great December meltdown of 2009 continues for the Vikes. HAHAHAHHAHAHA.

foundindaho said in December 22nd, 2009 at 9:33 am

Agreed, great game. If he continues the progress, GB will be very lucky to have a replacement for a legend. How rare is that? TT and MM were right to go with him last year. The GBP QB tradition continues.
