Hawk Fined $10,000 for Obscene Gesture

Linebacker A.J. Hawk was fined by the NFL for gesturing with his middle finger, which was broadcasted by Fox this past weekend.

In what should finally wrap up the story, the NFL has fined Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk for making an obscene gesture caught on camera this past week against the St. Louis Rams.

According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, Hawk was fined $10,000.

Hawk said it was an inside joke directed at teammates, not to an opponent or fans.

I understand a fine was coming, but the NFL has no sense of scale based on offense. Dunta Robinson, a noted head-hunter with history of launching his crown at defenseless players while almost killing DeSean Jackson one year and Jeremy Maclin another, received only a $25,000 for the first offense and $40,000 as a repeat offender.

So, $10,000 for flying the bird that has nothing to do with player safety or the integrity of the game, $40,000 for almost intentionally beheading an opponent.

Who can take the NFL seriously about player safety or game-integrity matters?

About what I expected. Figured somewhere in the 5-10K range.
