Gut Reactions: Week Seven

  • If this is true, Brett Favre is dead to me.
  • I'm guessing a lot of you prayed.
  • Brandon Chillar was incredible in his matchup with Dallas Clark. Just incredible.
  • What is with McCarthy's timid nature at the end of every first half?
  • Say it with me: Nick Collins, Playmaker
  • Bob Sanders, I owe you an apology
  • Sorry, Ryan Grant still looks pedestrian to me
  • Charles Woodson is the best corner in the league. Period.
  • Jeremy Thompson isn't there yet - but the kid is going to be a player.
  • Peyton Manning was extra whiny today.
  • Sorry for my absence throughout the day - both here on the blog and on the live chat - my parents are in town for the weekend with two friends. It made for a simply fantastic moment on Rouse's interception, as the entire living room exploded when Rouse started racing up the sideline. (Freaked the baby out something awful) It was a prefect topping to a perfect afternoon.

4# is a straight up snitch,He needs to spend more time with the Jet playbook and stop giving bad advice to Romo, spend less time making local radio avertisements on the Fan radio station and most of all stop snitching.

YES, YES, YES! What an awesome victory. I'm glad my kids are way past baby stage because I very loudly used not-so-nice language when screaming at Manning to stop whining on every pass defense. I am jacked about this game. I too thought Chillar was fantastic. He's just way better in pass coverage than Popinga and the others. Also agree on Thompson. I specifically remember a play where he shed a block and made a tackle and another one where he didn't get sucked inside and was able to keep Rhodes from getting to the corner. And what about Williams and Woody!? Four combined catches for 30 some yards?!!

Now I get to obsess about TN for 2 weeks. Unlike Indy, they run the ball!

Go Pack!!!

Well Aaron - you were absolutely spot on once again about one thing. It wasn't much of a game at the 4 minute mark of the 4th.

1. Brett... Really, he's not dead to me, but I'm done thinking about him this season. I have a football team to follow.

2. Bob Sanders - I don't know if he gets credit. Our front 4 got good pressure, which rarely happens. The Colts offensive line just isn't very good right now. out blitzes still looked poorly disguised.

3. Collins - Wow. I feel bad about the mean things I said about him last year.

4. Grant - Really, he looks mediocre. 3.2 yards/carry - he was bailed out by Rodgers' obscene completion percentage in the first half. Note that B. Jackson led the team in receptions today - I still think there's a good chance he's our featured back by the end of the year.

5. Tramon Williams stepped up nicely.

6. Jolly - what a beast.

7. Woodson - I agree. No one's playing better.

8. Driver - may end up leading the Packers in all-time receptions. He deserves it.

I'm sorry. How can you NOT give credit to Bob Sanders who's defense not only won the game for us, but shut down PEYTON MANNING and all of his weapons. We blame him when we lose, we have to give credit when we win.

Because I think the guys played out of their minds. I'll give him credit for a) going with an extra DB most of the game and b) playing Chillar over Hawk.

That said, let's not pretend this scheme is suddenly god's gift to football.

Of course not. But we had the Colts' number today. And that IS because of good game planning as well as good individual play. Bob Sanders may not be as imaginative as we would like, but he and his guys have got it done for four victories this season.

Andrew - I understand where you're coming from (You KNOW I'm no Sanders fan) but after watching his few six-man pressures get burned, Sanders called off the dogs and mostly played his base defense. That was a big decision, and I doubt it was the gameplan going in. Just thought he deserved credit.
