Did we just watch our Packers run D fixed, an offense that clicks, and role players stepping up, or did we just watch a really really really bad bears team do everything they could to lose?
The screen lives! Or see above.
Moving CM to ILB has had a major positive result towards fixing our run D. Or see the first bit again.
I loved what I saw, and now I want to see it again versus the eagles.
Thinking the same. Having Clay, Burnett, Hyde, Dix all over the middle showing speed, hits and leaving Hawk as an afterthought made me rub my eyes in disbelief . With Shields, Datone and Barrington healthy and back, I think it's real. Bring on the Eagles.
Remember cow when you argued with me saying having clay play some ilb is because he sucks? Well, I hope you watched the game tonight. His instincts and closing speed would make him one heck of an ilb. But we wouldn't want to waste his pass rushing now, would we? Did you see him downright own the tackles on a couple third down plays? Clay is an absolute beast, and a move inside on early downs would help the run d plenty.
Wish the Bears hadn't been so bad, would've liked to get a sense of where this team is at going into the Eagles game. Great morale booster, tho. Go Pack go!
Glad to see my man - Harris get some carries. What a nice change of pace. Quick cuts, speed to the hole. Need to see more of him.
CM3 was all over the place tonight. Side-line to side-line, he is just what we need. And despite being inside, he was all over Cutler. A lot of productivity from 52.
Man is Cutler a poor leader when things go wrong. His body language - everything. They're never going to go all the way with him at the helm. If they were smart they'd go in a different direction while he still has trade value.
I really like Harris. I think he could add another dimension to the offense. I'm not saying to give him 20+ touches a game. But how about getting him 5 touches. I think there is room in the offense to get him that.
Lacy and Starks are more similar types of backs. Both are built more for power. Harris is a smaller quicker/faster, shiftier type of back who does provide a change of pace.
I would like to see McCarthy get a little creative and possibly put Harris in the backfield with Lacy. That would be a way to get Harris on the field and not take snaps away from Lacy.
Isn't this why TT drafted Franklin last year? Harris was already that kind of back so he must put some value on his style. Granted the Bears D had long since given up last night, but Harris is quick as hell in space. Neither Starks nor Lacy have that kind of explosive burst.
The time around, the Packers allowed 311 yards on the day....with the 2nd half being treated like a preseason game. Earlier this year in Chicago, it was a 500 yard effort, made acceptable by turnovers. Quite a difference.
I think the bulk of that was on the Bears, who are imploding. Still, definite props to the defense for forcing turnovers again and also locking down the yardage. 55 yards rushing allowed today. Maybe they climbed out of the cellar in run defense...playing a team that had a big part in putting them in the cellar.
The Bares are imploding, yes. But part of that is thanks to the Packers crushing them early.
This was a situation in which this team tends to let a bad team hang around and have a chance. I didn't see any lulls out there today, at least until Flynn came in. (And I put that on drops by Cobb and Boykin.)
Can't say enough about the toughness of Lang and Sitton, not only suiting up tonight but playing at a very high level. Related: beyond fantastic to get them two quarters of rest.
Detroit's inevitable collapse down the stretch is going to be particularly sweet this year.
Remember at the beginning of the year when there was Cutler-for-MVP whispers? That he was settling into the Trestman system? That he finally had weapons? My, my, how the last 6 games have shifted that team's universe...
Clay's 1st game at ILB? Wow. Let's see it again next week vs. Eagles and I will believe. But if this is for real, we could look back on this move as the game when things finally changed for our defense. The talent has always been there.
Go figure,i was ranting to put Clay inside after the Seattle debockle. Now go one step futher and take out Hawk on 3rd down and replace with Richardison
- Definitely liked Clay there. Inside on first two downs, outside on third down. However, I think for the Eagles we should use him inside sparingly. McCoy likes to bounce out to the outside quite a bit.
- Let's not get too hyped on the run D yet. So far we've shown we can stop the run (by stats) when we have an early lead and the other team begins to panic. We did stuff it when they did run though. More of that please.
- Rodgers.
- I seriously don't mind some of those penalties like the one on Clinton-Dix and the Matthews barely touching Jays helmet if the D remains that aggressive.
- Props to Crosby for continuing to drain 50 yarders directly through the uprights. Last two years since the slump.......absolute money.
I'm gonna post a quote below. This new craze will sweep the blogosphere, the name... NAME THAT IDIOT. That's right folks, can you... NAME THAT IDIOT that wrote the quote?
"Pressure up the middle = no deep stuff.
All the interior run plays just got taken out of the playbook... and Lacy isn't much of a "get to the edge" type back.
This is bad.
Real bad.
Ratliff, Allen, and Young have to be licking their chops.
Let's hope Rodgers makes it through this one healthy.
Damn.
I'll also add this... Burnett just got downgraded... he won't play. You don't miss a week, get downgraded the day before a game, and then play the next day... that ain't happening.
37-21 Bears (and the score will make it look closer than the game actually is).
quite obvious, he's the same calling us delusional and idiots and that we all have no clue about football. The same who predicted the Vikings would run all over the D. That Newton would do a lot of damage since the Packers cannot defend against a mobile QB. Now that the Bears would easily win. Posts as Cow or Imma Fubared, or whatever else negative posters show up.
And after the games above, nowhere to be seen or heard of. but after the Saints game, posted 10000 times on every post.
Of course, I'm sure that it is all just due to the Bears being that bad, and nobody could have known that. But since the Bears are not a legit team, the 8-8 prognosis still stands...

Teams have to respect the screen game now. Huge plus. CM3 at ILB. Huge plus. This team is not perfect, but it is driving in the right direction.

My favorite part about this game: punts forced by the defense. We need more of that if this team wants to go deep into January.

Harris is the lightning to Lacy's thunder.
Wouldn't mind him on some screens. Maybe they're keeping him as a secret weapon for the playoffs. Maybe he struggles in pass pro. Not sure.
Dude is quick, fast and powerful though. Sees the field well too.
